Job summary

PENN Automotive Inc is seeking a Quality Engineer to support the Quality Department in maintaining product and process compliance for cold-headed automotive fasteners. This role includes document and gage control, nonconforming material disposition, inspection and calibration activities, and cross-functional support for continuous improvement.

Responsibilities cover IATF compliance, MSAs and PPAP coordination, and problem-solving using root-cause analysis.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 7 years of equivalent experience.
• Experience with 100% inspection using micrometers, calipers, and ring/plug gauges.
• Working knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 and IATF requirements.
• Proficiency with company databases and Microsoft Office.

Job description

The Quality Engineer supports the Quality Department in maintaining product and process compliance for cold-headed automotive fasteners, in accordance with company procedures, work instructions and IATF quality requirements. This role is responsible for document and gage control, nonconforming material disposition, inspection and calibration activities, and cross-functional support for continuous improvement and problem-solving initiatives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Document, Record, and Gage Control

• Maintain control of production documents, records, and gages in accordance with Company Work Instructions.
• Determine disposition of internal and supplier nonconforming product.
• Order lab chemicals and equipment/gauges, and schedule calibration services.

Quality Department Support

• Support Quality Technicians and the PPAP Coordinator as required.
• Perform defective-part analysis to support root cause investigations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

IATF Compliance and Inspection

• Demonstrate proficiency with the inspection, measurement, and test equipment required for 100% inspection of automotive fasteners.
• Perform calibration and Measurement System Analysis (MSA) of inspection gauges and test equipment according to schedule.
• Apply structured problem-solving methods — including root cause analysis, corrective action, and preventive action — in accordance with IATF quality procedures and guidelines.
• Perform process and product audits

Parts, Process, Project, and People

• Demonstrate strong computer proficiency, including the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Access and maintain multiple company databases.

• Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with established procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Follow all safety requirements to prevent injury to self and fellow employees.
• Identify, report, and help correct unsafe conditions or nonconformances to company safety policies and guidelines.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Primarily an air-conditioned office setting, with regular presence on the manufacturing floor.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Able to sit or stand for 8–10 hours per day.

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• Bachelor's degree, or 7 years of equivalent experience.
• Proficient with inspection, measurement, and test equipment used for 100% inspection of cold-headed automotive fasteners, including micrometers, calipers, and ring and plug gauges.
• Working knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 and IATF requirements.
• Basic understanding of metallurgical testing.
• Proficient with company databases and the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively with minimal supervision.
