Job summary

TI Automotive in Indiana seeks a Quality Engineer responsible for coordinating plant quality efforts from concept to customer, ensuring PFMEA and Control Plan integrity and IATF compliance. Responsibilities

• Coordinate plant quality efforts from concept to customer.
• Serve as customer liaison and manage customer scorecards.
• Lead PFMEA and Control Plan development and pre-launch controls.
• Maintain IATF standard compliance and assist with annual audits.
• Track quality metrics and drive scrap reduction and corrective actions.
• Manage receiving, lab, and final inspection instructions and supplier controls.
• Oversee supplier PFMEAs and supplier control plans for continuous improvement.
• Support CSR with Minitab analyses and SPC to ensure process capability.

Job description

A Quality Engineer is responsible for coordinating plant quality efforts from concept to customer.

Duties and Requirements of the Job:

1. Customer liaison
2. Communication with quality non conformances
3. Customer score cards
4. Customer portal management
5. Maintain IATF Standard
6. Knowledge of Standard and requirements
7. Participate and prepare for annual IATF audit
8. Create and Implement Pre-launch process controls (PFMEA and Control Plans)
9. Create and Implement Production process controls (PFMEA and Control Plans)
10. Developing RPN reduction plans for PFMEA
11. Ensure in-process inspections correlate with control plan requirements
12. Be present at customer launch sites for all Pre-launch Builds
13. Knowledge and experience in Measuring System Analysis
14. Gauge R&R
15. Measuring systems capabilities
16. Developing gauge instructions
17. Supplier improvement
18. Review Supplier Control Plans and PFMEAs to establish ways to improve.
19. Process capability index (Ppk) assessment
20. Knowledge of statistical software: Minitab
21. Develop improvement plans for critical characteristics
22. Knowledge of SPC 1 software
23. Rectify and resolve manufacturing issues internally as well as externally through working with customer, outside sources and internal team members as needed to identify and implement corrective actions and coordinate and oversee activities to ensure the product and customer satisfaction.
24. Track and trend Quality Metrics and develop and participate in core teams to drive change and reduce scrap
25. Perform control plan process walks to confirm control plan matches process
26. Prepare receiving inspection instructions
27. Prepare Lab inspection instructions to meet customer specifications
28. Prepare Final inspection instructions
29. Quality Operating System (QOS) Improvement Plan
30. Submit customer Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) paperwork
31. Other duties as specified on organizational chart (P.4.0C)
32. Other duties as assigned.

Skills Required to Perform the Duties of the Job:

1. Diverse duties involving Advance Product Quality Planning (APQP), Quality Operating System (QOS). Working knowledge of IATF and/or European Value Delivery Analysis (VDA). Ability to effectively communicate customer requirements into production process.
2. 3-5 years in Quality Assurance

Education Requirements Needed to Perform the Duties of the Job:

1. Must have working knowledge of blueprint reading, Metrology, statistical process control (SPC), 8-D problem solving and Quality Operating System (QOS).
2. Must have Bachelors degree in Science discipline.

Physical Requirements:

1. Ability to work at a personal computer for extended periods of time.
2. Ability to travel (domestic and/or international) including air travel and long automobile trips.

Working Conditions:

1. Occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds and frequently carries up to 30 pounds.
2. Maneuvers in, around, under, and about factory and/or laboratory equipment on a regular and continuous basis.
3. Some of work time is spent standing, walking, lifting, and bending.
4. Works within an automotive components manufacturing, office, and laboratory setting and is exposed to heat, cold, wet, and fumes/chemicals.
5. Hearing protection required in designated areas.
6. Eye protection required.
7. Steel or Composite toed shoes may be required occasionally.
