Job summary

TI Automotive seeks a Quality Engineer to drive plant quality from concept through customer delivery. You will coordinate quality initiatives, align processes with PFMEA and Control Plans, and support pre-launch and production phases with cross-functional teams.

Strong communication with customers and suppliers is essential to maintain product quality. The role requires experience in APQP/QOS, SPC, and IATF 16949 knowledge, with hands-on use of Minitab for statistics and problem solving.

Qualifications

  • Must have working knowledge of blueprint reading, metrology, SPC, 8-D problem solving and QOS.
  • Bachelor's degree in Science discipline required.
  • 3-5 years in Quality Assurance preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate plant quality efforts from concept to customer.
  • Prepare for and participate in annual IATF audit.
  • Develop PFMEA and Control Plans for pre-launch and production.
  • Track quality metrics and drive corrective actions with cross-functional teams.
  • Support and communicate customer requirements and scorecards.

Job description

A Quality Engineer is responsible for coordinating plant quality efforts from concept to customer.

Duties And Requirements Of The Job
  • Customer liaison
  • Communication with quality non conformances
  • Customer score cards
  • Customer portal management
  • Maintain IATF Standard
  • Knowledge of Standard and requirements
  • Participate and prepare for annual IATF audit
  • Create and Implement Pre-launch process controls (PFMEA and Control Plans)
  • Create and Implement Production process controls (PFMEA and Control Plans)
  • Developing RPN reduction plans for PFMEA
  • Ensure in-process inspections correlate with control plan requirements
  • Be present at customer launch sites for all Pre-launch Builds
  • Knowledge and experience in Measuring System Analysis
  • Gauge R&R
  • Measuring systems capabilities
  • Developing gauge instructions
  • Supplier improvement
  • Review Supplier Control Plans and PFMEAs to establish ways to improve.
  • Process capability index (Ppk) assessment
  • Knowledge of statistical software: Minitab
  • Develop improvement plans for critical characteristics
  • Knowledge of SPC 1 software
  • Rectify and resolve manufacturing issues internally as well as externally through working with customer, outside sources and internal team members as needed to identify and implement corrective actions and coordinate and oversee activities to ensure the product and customer satisfaction.
  • Track and trend Quality Metrics and develop and participate in core teams to drive change and reduce scrap
  • Perform control plan process walks to confirm control plan matches process
  • Prepare receiving inspection instructions
  • Prepare Lab inspection instructions to meet customer specifications
  • Prepare Final inspection instructions
  • Quality Operating System (QOS) Improvement Plan
  • Submit customer Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) paperwork
  • Other duties as specified on organizational chart (P.4.0C)
  • Other duties as assigned.
Skills Required To Perform The Duties Of The Job
  • Diverse duties involving Advance Product Quality Planning (APQP), Quality Operating System (QOS). Working knowledge of IATF and/or European Value Delivery Analysis (VDA). Ability to effectively communicate customer requirements into production process.
  • 3-5 years in Quality Assurance
Education Requirements Needed to Perform the Duties of the Job

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work at a personal computer for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to travel (domestic and/or international) including air travel and long automobile trips.
Working Conditions
  • Occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds and frequently carries up to 30 pounds.
  • Maneuvers in, around, under, and about factory and/or laboratory equipment on a regular and continuous basis.
  • Some of work time is spent standing, walking, lifting, and bending.
  • Works within an automotive components manufacturing, office, and laboratory setting and is exposed to heat, cold, wet, and fumes/chemicals.
  • Hearing protection required in designated areas.
  • Eye protection required.
  • Steel or Composite toed shoes may be required occasionally.
