Job summary

METAL FORMING & COINING LLC in Shelby Township, MI is seeking a Quality Control Engineer to monitor product quality and ensure standards compliance. You will implement SPC on the shop floor, perform root cause analysis, and lead 8D actions with a data-driven approach.

The role requires 4–7 years of QC experience, familiarity with IATF 16949, and the ability to read blueprints with GD&T. This is a full-time on-site position at the Vicker's site in New Troy, MI.

Qualifications

  • 4–7 years' experience as a Quality Control Engineer, preferably in automotive or manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of Automotive IATF 16949 systems and SPC implementation on the shop floor.
  • Experience with PFMEA, control plans, capability studies, and 8D corrective actions.
  • Proficiency in reading basic blueprints and GD&T; strong problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Administer corrective/preventive actions both internally and externally.
  • Implement SPC on the shop floor to monitor quality.
  • Read and interpret basic blueprints and GD&T.
  • Apply problem solving techniques and complete 8D actions.

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm

A quality engineer monitors and tests product quality, ensures compliance with standards, identifies issues, and recommends solutions

Responsibilities
  • Administer corrective/preventative actions both internally and externally
  • Implement SPC to shop floor
  • Basic blueprint reading/interpretation, GD&T

  • Complete and implement 8D corrective actions

Experience

Quality engineer education and qualifications
  • Experience and knowledge in an Automotive IATF 16949 system
  • 4-7 years' experience in a role as a Quality Control Engineer
Physical Requirements
  • Bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and moving items
  • Responding to public address system announcements
  • Walking and standing
  • Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds or more
  • Due to forklifts and other heavy equipment traveling through the shop, temporary cracks may appear in teh floor, causing an uneven walking surface
  • The shop environment can be dusty and noisy
  • Doors are frequently open, causing drafts and interior temperature changes
  • Floors around the work area may become slippery during wet weather conditions, or liquids such as coolants and oils from the machinery
  • May have to handle parts with sharp edges
  • Passing forklifts emit gas fumes
  • Tools, supplies, and related materials may contain hazardous materials
  • May have to occasionally work outdoors where temperatures and climate can function
Personal Protection Equipment
  • Wearing Safety Glasses when working on the shop floor
