Job summary

Korn Ferry is partnering with our client for a Quality Engineer role in an electronics and industrial manufacturing setting. The position emphasizes supplier quality, customer quality, corrective actions, and continuous improvement across multiple functions.

The role requires hands-on problem-solving, data-driven analysis, and collaboration with Engineering, Operations, Procurement, and external suppliers. Onsite Monday–Friday with travel as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Technology, or a related technical discipline.
  • 2+ years in Quality, Manufacturing, Design Engineering, or related field.
  • Electronic assembly experience including PCBA testing or failure analysis.
  • Strong statistics and root-cause problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to interpret GD&T and support supplier and internal quality initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate First Article approvals with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Analyze supplier rejection data and drive improvements.
  • Lead corrective actions and 8D reports for quality issues.
  • Support manufacturing with defective material resolution and process issues.

Korn Ferry is partnering with our client on their search for a Quality Engineer.

Role Summary:
  • Title: Quality Engineer
  • Reports To: Director of Operations and Supply Chain
  • Location: Monday through Friday onsite
  • Team Scope: Partner closely with Engineering, Operations, Procurement, R&D, Marketing, suppliers, and customers to address quality issues and improve product and manufacturing performance
  • Primary Focus: Serve as an internal and external quality resource responsible for supplier quality, customer quality, manufacturing support, corrective actions, quality systems, and continuous improvement within an electronic and industrial manufacturing environment
Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate First Article approval processes with suppliers and internal teams, including review of Material Test Reports
  • Analyze supplier rejection data and identify opportunities to improve supplier quality and ship-to-stock performance
  • Work directly with suppliers to resolve nonconforming product issues and ensure corrective action plans are completed
  • Drive supplier continuous improvement initiatives and conduct supplier audits
  • Develop 8D corrective action reports and respond to customer quality inquiries and escalations
  • Analyze field returns and warranty data to identify recurring failure modes and implement corrective actions
  • Support customer audits and quality reviews
  • Partner with receiving inspection and Engineering to evaluate questionable incoming materials
  • Support manufacturing teams in resolving defective material, documentation, and production process issues
  • Coordinate both in-house and external calibration activities
  • Create, disposition, and distribute nonconformance reports while tracking supplier NCR activity and trends
  • Perform internal audits and facilitate corrective action plans for identified nonconformances
  • Lead continuous process improvement initiatives using statistical techniques and lean methodologies
  • Develop and maintain Control Plans, PFMEAs, and Work Instructions
  • Communicate quality issues and corrective actions across multiple areas of the organization
  • Travel domestically and internationally as needed, up to approximately 10%
Ideal Candidate Profile:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Technology, or a related technical discipline required
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience within Quality, Manufacturing, Design Engineering, or a related environment
  • Electronic assembly experience required, including exposure to areas such as PCBA manufacturing, functional testing, or failure analysis
  • Working knowledge of electronic hardware, embedded systems, and how electronic components interact with mechanical assemblies
  • Familiarity with software and firmware is a plus
  • Candidates coming from adjacent industries such as automotive, aerospace, medical devices, or industrial controls can be considered if they bring transferable electronic manufacturing and quality experience
  • Strong understanding of statistics and the ability to apply quantitative analysis to quality and manufacturing issues
  • Ability to interpret and apply GD&T tolerancing
  • IPC-A-610 knowledge or certification preferred
  • Lead Auditor experience is a plus
  • Automotive PPAP familiarity is preferred
  • Strong analytical and root-cause problem-solving capabilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate technical issues
  • Strong teamwork and leadership capabilities with the ability to collaborate across Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Procurement, and external suppliers
  • Self-starter who is hands-on, proactive, and comfortable taking ownership of quality issues through resolution
  • No annual bonus
