Lead quality engineering for a modular manufacturing operation producing power and IT infrastructure systems. Own factory processes, supplier quality, and product inspections to embed quality in an engineer-to-order environment.
Develop and maintain manufacturing workmanship standards, work instructions, and quality plans for module and skid assembly in an engineer-to-order environment.
Apply lean methodology to reduce variability, eliminate waste, and improve first-pass yield across multi-week build cycles.
Analyze production workflows to identify defects, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement.
Develop and maintain process FMEAs; monitor scrap rate, first-pass yield, cost of poor quality, and on-time shipment performance, and drive corrective initiatives.
Own and administer the supplier pre-qualification and scorecard process for module manufacturers, custom steel fabricators, and component suppliers.
Plan and execute supplier audits, manage corrective actions, and ensure readiness for customer supplier quality assessments.
Track supplier performance on quality, delivery, and non-conformance/RMA history; maintain lot traceability requirements.
Perform source inspection of modules and skids at supplier/fabricator facilities and receiving inspection at the facility, including structural and cosmetic weld inspections.
Verify leak and pressure testing of enclosures and corrosion protection against specifications.
Support customer factory witness testing and conduct final inspection and documentation sign-off on units before shipment or site delivery.
Lead cross-functional root-cause investigations using structured methodologies (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone/Ishikawa) for internal and supplier-caused non-conformances.
Facilitate process improvement workshops, Kaizen events, and track the effectiveness of corrective actions through data-driven verification.
BS in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Industrial and Systems Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent demonstrated work experience considered in lieu of a degree.
8+ years of experience in quality, manufacturing, or a related field, ideally including both factory/process quality and supplier quality.
Direct experience conducting root cause and corrective action investigations (8D or similar).
Direct experience developing FMEAs and control plans.
Experience qualifying and auditing suppliers/fabricators, including scorecard or checklist-based assessment methods.
Strong analytical skills - comfortable working with data to identify trends and drive decisions.
Experience applying lean methodology in a low-volume or engineer-to-order manufacturing environment.
Willingness and ability to travel to supplier sites for source inspection and audits.
Working knowledge of metal fabrication and welding
Working familiarity with AWS D1.1/D1.3 welding standards and CWI-inspected work.
Experience with enclosure/module manufacturing (e-houses, skids, electrical/power equipment)
Experience with leak/pressure testing and corrosion testing
Lean/Six Sigma certification (Green or Black Belt), ASQ certification.
Experience with MES/traceability systems and ERP-integrated quality modules.
Excellent communication and cross-functional leadership skills.
You have 8+ years of quality and supplier experience. Proficient in FMEA, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions. Experienced with lean methods, welding standards, and traceability systems
