Job summary

Bison is seeking a Quality Engineer to lead investigations and resolution of quality issues across supplier, production, and design domains. You will act as the customer advocate and focus on product line support where assigned.

The role requires strong statistical skills, experience with ISO standards, Lean/Six Sigma, and hands-on use of measurement equipment. Collaboration with multiple departments and suppliers is essential to ensure quality excellence.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering related field required.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience required; electromechanical devices a plus.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to all levels.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to day-to-day design, production, and customer quality issues.
  • Resolve production problems related to process, part, and design.
  • Determine quality improvement parameters for manufacturing processes.
  • Maintain SPC using demerit/unit, zone charting, x2 charts, and range charts.
  • Analyze data with hypothesis tests, normal distribution, and process capability analyses.
  • Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, summarizing data and making recommendations.
  • Interface with Purchasing, Manufacturing Engineering, and Product/Sustaining Engineering.
  • Monitor self-release, first article, and PPAP preparation.

Job Description

The Quality Engineer is responsible for assisting in and directing the investigation and resolution of quality-related supplier, production, manufacturing, and design-related problems, and acts as the customer’s advocate when customers have detected quality problems. May be assigned to the specific product line(s) for focused product and project support.

What You Will Do
  • Respond to day-to-day design, production, and customer quality issues related to production lines
  • Resolve production problems associated with process, part, and design issue
  • Determine quality improvement parameters relevant to manufacturing processes
  • Maintain statistical process controls by applying demerit/unit, zone charting, x2 charts for distributions, and individual-medial/range for multi-stream processes
  • Analyze data by completing hypothesis, normal distribution, and process capability analysis tests
  • Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data, making recommendations
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Interface with all aspects of Purchasing, Manufacturing Engineering, Product and Sustaining Engineering, and Production Inventory Control in the performance of their assigned tasks
  • Monitor self-release of products, first article, and PPAP preparation
  • Review manufacturing instructions for completeness, correctness, and comprehension by assembly personnel. Audits processes performed by assembly personnel relative to methods, tools, and ability to follow manufacturing instructions
  • Responsible for the internal and external supplier audits and corrective action system including compliance verifications, documentation, and follow-up
  • Assist in ensuring quality assurance specifications are met by engineering, manufacturing, and other involved functions
  • Intervene on behalf of the customer to ensure their ultimate satisfaction with quality issues
  • Maintain records of investigation and resolution in accordance with procedures
  • Assist with the application and monitoring of established inspection procedures and methods
  • Utilize MRP/ERP software for data collection and incident resolution
  • Assist in the maintenance of the quality system as directed by the Quality Manager
  • Review, support, and complete RMA’s, including root cause analysis, developing corrective action, and turnaround in an efficient and timely manner
What We Are Looking For
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field (ME, EE, IE) preferred
  • At least 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment is required; experience with electromechanical devices a strong plus
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts, problems, and ideas to various levels within the organization
  • Proficiency in reading and understanding various technical documents such as blueprints, material specification sheets, etc.
  • Knowledge of ISO standards required
  • Broad knowledge of materials and material evaluation required
  • Working knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma tools – DMAIC problem solving, PPAP, DFMEA, DOE, SPC, GR&R, CPk, APQP, etc.
  • Competency using simple and complex measurement instruments (e.g. CMM, drop gauge, force gauge, calipers, and indicators) required
  • Demonstrated ability and willingess to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and to reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs.
  • Working knowledge of common industry specifications, standards, and handbooks
