Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.

• Quantitative quality methods: SPC, capability analysis, DOE.

• ASQ Quality Engineer certification preferred.

Job description

The Quality Engineer is responsible for supplier management and providing technical support to manufacturing, including leading or supporting quality investigations and continuous improvements projects.

Production Support

• Lead and participate in cross-functional teams to investigate and resolve quality concerns, including customer returns, complaints, and internal non-conformances.
• Apply quality tools and structured problem-solving methodologies to identify root causes and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
• Prepare clear, accurate technical documentation, including investigation reports, work instructions, and process procedures.
• Develop and deliver quality-related training to employees and cross-functional teams as needed.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement focused on enhancing product quality, customer satisfaction, operational performance, and plant objectives.
• Support supplier audits, corrective action activities, and the evaluation, qualification, and implementation of supplier changes.
• Lead incoming quality initiatives and work with suppliers and internal teams to investigate and resolve vendor-related quality issues.
• Assist in developing and improving incoming inspection processes, tools, and testing requirements, including FAIR and PPAP activities.
• Lead supplier quality improvement initiatives and projects designed to strengthen supplier performance and product quality.

Regulatory & Quality Compliance

• Ensure manufacturing and quality processes remain compliant with applicable industry standards and regulatory requirements, including IEC, ISO 9001, ISO 13485, and AS9100.
• Lead or support internal and supplier audits, including the identification, documentation, and resolution of corrective actions.
• Participate in customer and third-party audits as required.
• Support regulatory and certification initiatives, including UL certifications and ISO accreditation activities.
• Assist with environmental, safety, and regulatory compliance programs related to RoHS, REACH, Conflict Minerals, IEC, and OSHA requirements.
• Lead Quality Plans and continuous improvement projects from planning through execution, ensuring project milestones and deliverables are achieved.
• Develop project plans, timelines, and supporting technical documentation using strong project management and technical writing skills.
• Drive focused quality initiatives involving process control, root cause analysis, corrective actions, documentation, system implementation, and inspection activities.
• Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing processes, quality systems, efficiency, and overall operational performance.
• Coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure projects remain aligned with business and quality objectives.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline, with 3–5 years of manufacturing experience.
• 2–3 years of experience in an electronics manufacturing environment, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
• SMT manufacturing experience is required.
• Intermediate knowledge of quantitative quality methods and statistical tools, including SPC, process capability analysis, and Design of Experiments (DOE).
• Advanced proficiency with problem-solving methodologies used to investigate, document, and resolve complex quality issues.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications required.
• Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), engineering change management, ERP systems, and performance metrics is a plus.
• Strong electrical, mechanical, analytical, and statistical aptitude.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers, auditors, suppliers, vendors, and other external stakeholders.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while managing changing priorities and maintaining a strong focus on customer satisfaction.
• Self-directed and motivated, with a demonstrated ability to develop and implement innovative solutions to technical and quality challenges.
• ASQ Quality Engineer certification is preferred.
