Fabrication Quality Engineer (1st Shift)
Schedule: 1st shift | 6:00am–2:30pm (40 hrs/week, OT as needed)
About the Role
We’re seeking an early‑career Fabrication Quality Engineer to support active manufacturing operations in a fabrication and welding environment. This role is highly hands‑on and focused on in‑process quality, defect prevention, and continuous improvement on the shop floor.
You’ll work closely with welders, inspectors, and engineering teams to ensure products meet quality, safety, and manufacturing standards while learning and applying core quality engineering tools.
What You’ll Do:
- Support day‑to‑day quality activities in fabrication and welding areas
- Perform in‑process inspections, audits, and quality checks
- Identify, document, and help contain non‑conforming material
- Partner with production teams to troubleshoot quality issues and reduce repeat defects
- Assist with quality documentation, control plans, and audit support (ISO)
- Analyze basic quality data and update factory quality systems
- Support investigations related to defects and warranty claims
What We’re Looking For:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Quality, Weld Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Experience in a manufacturing environment (fabrication or welding preferred)
- Understanding of quality systems, inspections, and non‑conformance documentation
- Strong problem‑solving and communication skills
- Comfortable working on the shop floor with operators and skilled trades
Preferred
- Exposure to welding and fabrication processes
- Familiarity with Lean / continuous improvement tools
- Experience in a union manufacturing environment
- On‑site role supporting active production areas
- Frequent shop‑floor presence around welding and fabrication equipment
- Metatarsal safety boots required on first day
