Position Overview:

Aegis Worldwide is partnered with a global manufacturer in Columbus, IN seeking to hire a Quality Engineer. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), working with suppliers, and leading or assisting with supplier audits. This role involves ensuring the quality of incoming materials and parts, working with Quality Technicians, managing the PPAP process, and collaborating closely with suppliers to maintain and improve product quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

PPAP Management:

  • Oversee and manage the complete PPAP process for new and existing parts, ensuring documentation meets customer and industry standards.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams for timely PPAP submissions and approvals.

Supplier Quality Management:

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure quality adherence.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to resolve quality issues, provide feedback, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Monitor supplier performance, track quality metrics, and initiate corrective/preventive actions.
  • Lead and participate in supplier audits to evaluate compliance with standards and regulations.
  • Document audit findings, communicate with suppliers, and follow up on corrective actions.

Root Cause Analysis and Problem Solving:

  • Conduct root cause analysis for quality issues, working with internal teams and suppliers to resolve them promptly.
  • Implement corrective and preventive actions to improve quality and reduce defects.
  • Promote continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, efficiency, and supplier performance.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to improve product designs, manufacturing processes, and supplier capabilities.

Quality Documentation & Reporting:

  • Ensure quality documentation is accurate, current, and compliant with standards and customer requirements.
  • Prepare and present quality reports to management, highlighting trends and recommending improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of experience as a Quality Engineer, focusing on PPAP, supplier management, and audits.
  • Strong understanding of PPAP elements (PSW, Process Flow, FMEA, Control Plans, etc.).
  • Experience in conducting supplier audits and managing relationships.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Knowledge of quality tools (Six Sigma, FMEA, SPC, 8D, etc.).
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and other standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with internal teams and suppliers.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in automotive, manufacturing, or electronics industries.
  • Knowledge of APQP processes.
  • Experience with SAP or other ERP systems.
  • Quality management certifications (CQE, Six Sigma).
