Job summary

Premier Pump & Power, a family-owned manufacturer, is seeking a Quality Control Technician to inspect, test, and document throughout production. You’ll work with raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to ensure compliance and drive improvements in quality and efficiency.

Responsibilities include conducting routine inspections, using precision measurement tools, recording results, and collaborating with engineers and production teams to implement corrective actions.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years in a quality role for a manufacturing company.
  • Proficiency with measurement tools and testing equipment.
  • Ability to read technical specifications in English.

Responsibilities

Premier Pump & Power is a family-owned manufacturer of industrial pumps and energy solutions. We specialize in large, custom portable pump packages, and our products are renowned for their performance, serviceability and built-in quality. We proudly serve thousands of customers from our global headquarters in Vancouver, Washington and our large-scale manufacturing factory in Houston, Texas.

The Quality Control Technician ensures products meet quality standards by inspecting, testing, and documenting throughout the production process. You will work with raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to identify defects and ensure compliance with specifications. You will also play a role in maintaining equipment, calibrating instruments, and collaborating with production teams to resolve quality issues and implement improvements. There will be no direct reports for this position, and you will report to the VP of Operations.

Responsibilities

  • Inspecting and Testing: Conducting routine quality inspections at various stages of production, including raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products.
  • Using Measurement Tools: Utilizing various tools and equipment to measure product dimensions, characteristics, and performance against established standards.
  • Identifying Defects: Recognizing and documenting any deviations from quality standards or specifications.
  • Recording and Reporting: Maintaining accurate records of inspection results, documenting quality issues, and reporting non-conformance to supervisors.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Setting up, calibrating, and maintaining testing equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Collaboration: Working with production teams, engineers, and other departments to address quality problems and implement corrective actions.
  • Documentation: Creating and maintaining quality control documentation, including inspection reports, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Continuous Improvement: Suggesting process improvements and participating in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Safety Compliance: Following safety guidelines and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  • Training: Training production staff on quality control procedures and standards.
  • Production Planning and Scheduling: Maintaining production schedules, ensuring efficient workflow, and coordinating with different departments to meet deadlines.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in quality role for a manufacturing company.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in using measurement tools, testing equipment, and quality control methodologies.
  • Attention to Detail: A meticulous approach to inspection and documentation.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and troubleshoot quality issues.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify the root cause of quality problems and implement effective solutions.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with others.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent, with some positions requiring post-secondary education or relevant certifications.
  • Strong Organizational and Time Management Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and tools: Experience with production planning software, inventory management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite. Netsuite experience a plus.
  • Ability to read technical specifications and author quality control documentation, including inspection reports and work instructions, in English to ensure safety and operational compliance.

Employment will be conditioned upon passing a drug screen and background check.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

Employees must be able to lift and move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds. Close visual acuity is required to perform inspections and read fine-print technical specifications. While performing the responsibilities of this job, employees are required to exchange accurate information, stand for extended periods, sit, and possess the manual dexterity to operate precision measurement tools. Employees are frequently required to reach with their hands and arms and are occasionally required to kneel or stoop.

While working in the factory, performing inspections and troubleshooting equipment, employees may be exposed to varying weather conditions and extreme temperatures, work near moving mechanical parts, and must be able to tolerate moderate to loud noise levels. Proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required in designated areas.
