Job summary

Dickerson & Bowen Company is seeking a Level II technician to sample, test, and inspect construction materials in lab and field settings to ensure compliance with specifications. You will maintain quality standards and communicate results to supervision.

Responsibilities include training Level I staff, following the GMS, and upholding safety protocols across all operations. A high school diploma and relevant certifications are required.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
• Regional or state agency certification for material sampling/testing/inspection required.
• MDOT certifications preferred for advancement.

General Summary

This position is responsible for sampling, testing, and inspecting construction materials or elements in a laboratory or field setting to ensure compliance with the supplier and/or owner specifications. Level II technicians must sample and test two construction materials in either a lab and/or field setting.

Essential Job Accountabilities

• Ensure compliance with supplier and owner specifications by sampling and testing construction materials, including soil, aggregate, hot mix asphalt (HMA), to maintain quality standards
• Prepare and communicate testing and inspection results to supervisors and plant personnel to ensure quality control standards are satisfied and necessary process changes are implemented
• Follow the requirements for materials quality outlined in the company management system (GMS) and the Construction Materials Playbook to ensure compliance and maintain high standards
• Train Level I technicians on sampling and testing of construction materials to prepare them for additional certification and enhance their skills
• Participate in and promote company safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment and compliance with safety regulations

Education

• High school diploma preferred
• Regional or State Agency certification for material being sampled, tested, inspected required
• MDOT certifications preferred

Work Experience

• 1+ years of related experience required

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Knowledge of and compliance with OSHA and MSHA rules and regulations
• Basic computer skills, basic proficiency Microsoft Excel
• Good oral and written communication skills
