Job summary

Cornerstone Building Brands is seeking a Quality Control Technician in Gaffney, SC, with 2nd shift hours (3pm–11pm). You will analyze quality issues, operate lab equipment, maintain calibration records, and support the molding department.

Responsibilities include data entry and reporting, implementing corrective actions, and training operators while adhering to health, safety, and environmental programs. Benefits start day 1 and weekly pay are offered.

Qualifications

  • High School Education, or equivalent GED.
  • Experience with precision measuring equipment.
  • Two years' experience as Q.C. Inspector, preferred.
  • 20/20 vision or corrected as such good color vision.
  • ASQC certification, associate degree in Quality Technology or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and Solve Quality Problems: Provide an effective and competent solution to quality problems and assist other quality control personnel to prevent major problems from occurring. Initiate and monitor corrective action.
  • Operate Lab Equipment: Perform 100% layouts, verify engineering changes and any dimensions needed to assure quality products, operate color meters, weather meters, melt-flow plastometers, saws, personal computer and computer terminals, Gardner Impact Tester, scales, etc.
  • Coordinate Data Base Management: Process relevant daily information including input into appropriate computer programs, and output of relevant information on quality costs and productivity, assure proper information distribution and effective report formatting for comprehensive overview.
  • Instrument Calibration: Calibrate all precision instruments and keep an accurate record of calibrations.
  • Assist in Special Studies and Projects: Perform any special dimensional checks or product tests as directed by the Quality Control Manager.
  • Quality Standards: Communicate quality standards to inspection and manufacturing personnel. Assist in training of production operators.
  • Technical Assistance: Provide technical assistance to technicians and supervisors.
  • Comply & promote all environmental, health & safety programs, laws and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or necessary.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Quality Control Technician should analyze and solve quality problems, operate lab equipment and other precision measuring equipment, coordinate database management and quality reporting perform instrument calibration, and assist in special studies and projects as directed by the Quality Control Engineer, and develop, maintain, and input part numbers, bills-of-material, part routings, and production standards. This position will support the Molding Department, and hours are Monday - Friday, 3PM to 11PM.
