Job summary

Cemex in California is seeking a Quality Lab Technician to perform standardized tests (ASTM, AASHTO, ACI) at cement and Ready Mix plants and verify product quality against specs.

You will maintain test records, assist with mix design to assess kiln impacts, train new staff, and support audits and outage responses while adhering to safety policies and PPE requirements.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in applied science or at least 2 years of cement plant experience.
• ASTM certification (or ability to obtain within the first year).
• 2 to 4 years of experience in a quality-related role in the cement or heavy manufacturing industry.
• Strong numerical and testing skills.
• Computer proficiency (including Excel and lab software).
• Attention to detail.
• Understanding of ASTM standards.
• Ability to operate mobile equipment.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety policies and wear PPE at all times.
• Perform ASTM, AASHTO, and ACI testing at cement and Ready Mix plants.
• Verify product compliance with quality specifications and notify management of deviations.
• Assist with product mix design and assess impact on kiln processes.
• Maintain detailed test records and prepare quality/maintenance reports.
• Perform lab housekeeping and basic equipment maintenance.
• Train new team members and complete audits, inspections, and reports.
• Respond to callouts, participate in outages, support other duties as assigned.
