Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a QA technician for our cement/Ready Mix operations in Flagstaff, AZ. You will perform ASTM, AASHTO, and ACI testing, maintain test records, and contribute to product quality and process improvements.

The role requires an associate degree or 2+ years in a cement plant, ASTM certification (or plan to obtain), strong numerical skills, and proficiency with Excel and lab software. Safety and accuracy are essential in daily duties.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or 2+ years cement plant experience.
• ASTM certification (or ability to obtain within the first year).
• 2–4 years in a quality-related role in cement or heavy manufacturing.
• Proficient with Excel and lab software; strong numerical skills.
• Attention to detail and understanding of ASTM standards.

Responsibilities

• Follow Cemex, OSHA, and MSHA safety policies and wear PPE at all times.
• Perform ASTM, AASHTO, and ACI testing at cement and Ready Mix plants.
• Verify product compliance with quality specifications and notify management of deviations.
• Assist with product mix design and understand impact on kiln processes.
• Maintain detailed records of tests and inspections.
• Prepare reports related to quality and equipment issues.
• Perform lab housekeeping and basic equipment maintenance.
• Train new team members and complete audits, inspections, and reports as required.
• Respond to callouts and support plant outages.

• Perform ASTM, AASHTO, and ACI testing at cement and Ready Mix plants
• Verify product compliance with quality specifications and notify management of any quality deviations
• Assist with product mix design and understand the impact of changes on kiln processes
• Maintain detailed records of tests and inspections
• Prepare reports related to quality and equipment issues
• Perform lab housekeeping and basic equipment maintenance
• Train new team members and complete audits, inspections, and reports as required
• Respond to callouts, participate in plant outages, and support other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in applied science or at least 2 years of cement plant experience
• ASTM certification (or ability to obtain within the first year)
• 2 to 4 years of experience in a quality-related role in the cement or heavy manufacturing industry
• Strong numerical and testing skills
• Computer proficiency (including Excel and lab software)
• Attention to detail
• Understanding of ASTM standards
• Ability to operate mobile equipment
