Job summary

The Judge Group is seeking a detail-oriented Quality Control Technician for a growing commercial bakery in the Mokena, IL area. You will perform inspections, testing, and documentation to ensure products meet food safety and quality standards.

You will work 12-hour shifts (3:00 AM-3:00 PM or 3:00 PM-3:00 AM) with ample overtime and one weekend day. The role involves collaborating with production teams, maintaining QC records, and supporting audits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate's degree in Food Science or related field a plus.
• 1+ years of QC/QA experience in a food manufacturing environment preferred.
• Bakery experience a plus, not required.
• Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, and food safety regulations.
• Able to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 lbs for full shift.
• Reliable, flexible, and willing to work one weekend day per week.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine quality checks on raw materials, in-process product, and finished goods
• Conduct sensory evaluations (taste, texture, appearance) and physical testing (weight, temperature, pH, moisture)
• Monitor and document CCPs (Critical Control Points) per HACCP plan
• Verify GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and sanitation compliance on the production floor
• Complete and maintain accurate QC records, batch logs, and traceability documentation
• Flag and escalation non-conforming product; support root cause investigations
• Calibrate and maintain QC testing equipment
• Support internal and third-party audits (SQF, BRC, or similar)
• Communicate quality issues clearly to production supervisors and management

About the Role

A growing commercial bakery in the Mokena, IL area is seeking a detail-oriented Quality Control Technician to support daily production operations. This role is critical to ensuring every product leaving the facility meets food safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
