Job description

Description

This position is responsible for overseeing the floor inspection group and ensuring strict adherence to FIA company policies, procedures, quality standards, and performance expectations. The Quality Control Team Leader provides leadership, coaching, and direction to inspectors while promoting a culture of quality, safety, continuous improvement, and accountability. This position serves as a key resource in identifying, investigating, and resolving quality concerns while supporting production operations and customer requirements.

  • Ensure compliance with Standard Work Instructions, internal controls, company policies, and quality procedures.
  • Maintain compliance with all safety regulations and promote a safe work environment.
  • Oversee the proper use, maintenance, and management of quality equipment and inspection tools.
  • Investigate quality concerns, equipment issues, and inspection tool discrepancies and implement appropriate countermeasures.
  • Determine disposition of quality issues and ensure timely resolution.
  • Resolve quality concerns as they are identified and elevate issues as necessary.
  • Maintain proper 4S standards within assigned work areas.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and cost‑saving activities, including scrap reduction efforts.
  • Conduct containment activities and sorting of nonconforming vendor‑supplied, in‑process, and finished products under the direction of the Quality Control Supervisor.
  • Assist with corrective actions and countermeasures resulting from internal, customer, and third‑party audits.
  • Ensure product quality and performance meet customer specifications and requirements.
  • Escalate any data or inspection results that fall outside customer specifications to the Quality Control Supervisor.
  • Monitor inspection activities and ensure compliance with customer and FIA quality standards.
  • Train, coach, and develop Quality Inspectors on inspection techniques, quality standards, and department procedures.
  • Verify team members understand and consistently apply inspection methods and quality requirements.
  • Provide leadership and support to inspectors while fostering teamwork and accountability.
  • Demonstrate and train others in the proper use of measurement and inspection equipment, including:
    • Check fixtures
    • Calipers
    • Taper gauges
    • Feeler gauges
    • Surface indicators
  • Support production departments in addressing quality concerns and production‑related issues.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality personnel to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Assist with special projects and continuous improvement initiatives as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Proficiency in basic mathematics. Ability to properly use measurement and inspection tools including calipers, steel rules, taper gauges, feeler gauges, and surface indicators.
