Job Description Summary

Under general supervision, performs duties including processing and separating various materials in a safe and efficient manner, by hand, from material piles on the MRF tipping floor or on a moving conveyor; maintains a clean and hazard-free work area; demonstrates understanding of all applicable policies, procedures, and work methods; assists in training newer staff; and performs related duties as assigned.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment including Front End Loaders, Telehandlers, Skid Steers with Grapples, Sit Down diesel Forklifts, Scissor Lifts, and Bailer equipment safely and proficiently.
• Work under general supervision and adapt to various hours and shifts, including overtime when needed.
• Maintain cleanliness of the facility and work areas.
• Follow instructions and operate equipment such as Komatsu/JCB loader, telehandler, and New Holland Skid Steer with Grapple.
• Perform sampling/grading of inbound material and QC outbound commodities.
• Load and unload recycling and residue materials for outbound customers.
• Collaborate with other departments and perform additional duties like traffic control, janitorial tasks, and outside maintenance.
• Work in a non-climate-controlled environment.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Adhere to work schedules, policies, and safety standards.

Qualifications, Education, and Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Minimum 2 years’ heavy equipment operation experience; recycling experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of earthmoving techniques and routine maintenance on equipment.
• Good communication skills in English.
• Heavy Equipment certification preferred.

Work Environment

• Combination of office and outdoor work in all weather conditions.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment with deadlines.

Physical Requirements

• Visual acuity, hearing, physical activity including climbing, bending, lifting up to 25 pounds, and fine motor control.
