Job summary

LVI Associates is seeking a Quality Control Manager for heavy civil construction in Massachusetts. This hands-on leader will oversee quality programs on major bridge, highway, and roadway projects, working with project management, field leadership, subcontractors, and testing agencies to ensure contract and quality standards are met.

The role focuses on building an effective quality program under active site conditions, with travel regionally as needed and a strong emphasis on field process

Qualifications

• 5+ years in bridge/highway/heavy civil construction.
• Experience in quality control, inspection, and materials testing.
• 2+ years in a dedicated quality role preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, contracts, testing requirements, and technical documents.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Clear communication with field teams, owners, engineers, and subcontractors.
• Proficiency with construction project management or documentation systems.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Quality-related certifications such as ISO 9001, ASQ CQE, NETTCP QAT are valued.

Responsibilities

• Develop and administer project-specific quality management and inspection plans.
• Oversee inspection, testing, and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
• Coordinate field quality personnel and third-party testing agencies.
• Schedule and perform audits, inspections, and material testing.
• Verify materials, workmanship, and processes meet project requirements.
• Maintain detailed inspection records, test reports, and corrective-action logs.
• Identify quality risks and implement mitigation strategies.
• Manage nonconforming work and drive timely corrective action.
• Collaborate with Project Managers, Superintendents, Field Engineers, designers, owners, and subcontractors.
• Review material documentation and confirm compliance before use.
• Train project teams and subcontractors on quality procedures and inspection requirements.
• Provide regular quality updates to leadership.
• Recommend process improvements to reduce rework and prevent issues.
• Promote accountability and continuous improvement across the team.
