Job summary

Houston Precision Fasteners seeks a skilled Quality Inspector to examine machined parts and assemblies, verify tolerances, and ensure compliance with specifications in Final and In-Process Inspection. You will use precision tools and read blueprints to determine product requirements, logging data and communicating results with the team.

Responsibilities include documenting inspection information, interpreting standards, maintaining up-to-date policies, and adhering to safety and quality

Qualifications

  • HS diploma or equivalent or equivalent combination of experience/education.
  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience required.
  • Basic knowledge of mathematics and applications.
  • AS9100 experience.
  • Basic knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. This includes Keyence inspection equipment, optical comparators, digital micrometers and calipers, gage pins, ring gages, dial indicators, concentricity gage, thread segments
  • Basic knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints (including geometric dimension and tolerancing features), drawings, and models as well as advanced knowledge of geometric dimension tolerancing (GD&T) features

  • Examine materials and final products, calculates tolerances and dimensions using hand tools, verifies conformance to standards, reads work orders, routers and blueprints to determine product specifications as a part of inspecting products and materials in process and in final inspection
  • Document / record quality inspection information
  • Evaluate information to determine whether parts and materials conform to regulations and standards
  • Maintain current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives
  • Analyze data or information
  • Establish and maintain interpersonal relationships
  • Evaluate information to determine compliance with standards

Job Purpose

Inspect machined parts or products for defects, damage, wear, and deviations from specifications in Final and In Process Inspection. May use precision measuring instruments and complex test equipment. Use computer systems to enter and log data. Able to perform inspections independently. Answer inspection questions on any parts submitted for source.

Physical Requirements And Working Condition

  • Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, and stand for prolonged periods of time, climb steps, and ladders
  • Must be able to work at heights utilizing fall protection equipment (man lifts, ladders, and stand)
  • Must be able to lift up to 45lbs
  • Subject to environmental conditions -protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes
  • Subject to hazards to include a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals
  • Subject to loud constant noise
  • Subject to atmospheric conditions such as fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation
