Job Summary:
The Final Inspector provides inspection and support in the final product mechanical and coordinate measuring machine (Romer Arm) inspections, including receiving and in-process inspections. The Final Inspector verifies that the products, materials, hardware and outside processing is in compliance with all applicable PO’s, engineering drawings, models, specifications, codes and customer requirements.
Responsibilities (including, but are not limited to):
·Ensuring quality of manufactured goods through proactive QC support
·Verifying conformance of finished products to customer engineering and specifications
·Approving finished products by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; returning
products for re-work; confirming results of re-work
·Documenting inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing re-work and waste; inputting
·Perform daily dimensional and visual inspections in a timely manner
·Conferring with vendors and others regarding inspection results or inspection data
·Keeping measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions; calling for repairs and or
calibration as required
·Perform daily startup checks of Romer Arm, angular accuracy checks, scale bar checks etc.
·Assists production in the qualification of machine set-ups, first piece verifications, etc.
·Recording pass/fail grade of products, red tag nonconforming products and initiate NCRs
·Ensure that all non-conforming products are correctly identified and segregated until disposition (rework or
scrap) can be determined
·Participating in quality and production meetings as required
·Complete all necessary TJ Aerospace and customer documentation for inspection activities
·Be a resource for the training initiatives in manufacturing workstations
·Be a liaison between the manufacturing workstation members and other functional areas for resolving issues
that may hinder production
·Interfacing with customers, source inspectors, supplier Quality Engineers, etc.
·Provide feedback and recommend changes to written procedures or work instructions as required to keep
them in line with business operations, customer requirements, industry best practice and the current TJ
Aerospace practice
·Ensuring company is meeting the standard codes in the manufacturing process
·Performs other duties as assigned by the Quality Manager or required by the position
Skills and Qualifications:
·Highly proficient in interpreting engineering drawings (GD&T and ANSI Y14.5), models, sketches, and customer
specifications and requirements
·Strong understanding/knowledge of CMM PC-DMIS software
·Strong mathematical skills including proficiency with statistical concepts, fundamentals of planes, solid
geometry, and trigonometry
·Highly proficient with the use of Height gauges, Indicators, Ring, Pin, Thread Gages, Go/No- Go gages, calipers,
micrometers, bore gages and surface table setups
·Proficient with Aerospace First Article Inspection standard (AS9102)
·Good verbal and written communication skills across all levels of the organization
·Attention to detail and a good team player
·Ability to work in a high-volume manufacturing shop environment
·Ability to multi-task
Education and Experience:
·High school Diploma, with formal PC-DMIS training and certifications
·AA in Mechanical Engineering plus formal PC-DMIS training and certifications preferred
·5+ years of experience in Romer Arm inspection in an Aerospace environment
·Defense/Aerospace experience highly preferred
·Experience in an Aerospace manufacturing environment
·Working knowledge of Quality Control and Quality Assurance practices
·Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (word, excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
·Practical experience in precision inspection equipment and calibration.
·Well-versed in AS9100/ISO 9001 and Nadcap Quality Management Systems and requirements
·Experience with OEM aerospace customer specifications (Boeing, Lockheed, Collins, etc.)
