The auditor also supports lab testing activities, including buoyancy and fire-retardant tests, and plays a key role in processing customer claims and participating in audits.

Responsibilities
  • Verify that products produced in the mattress, pillow, fiber, and carpet cushion departments meet established quality standards.

  • Perform frequent measurements using a tape measure to check product lengths, widths, thicknesses, and other dimensions with a high degree of accuracy.

  • Document quality findings in detail and use computers and tablets to track data, compile results, and produce clear, concise reports.

  • Communicate quality concerns and findings up the chain of command as needed to ensure timely resolution of issues.

  • Assist with internal and external quality audits to confirm compliance with specifications and procedures.

  • Process new customer quality claims as needed, gathering data, evaluating product issues, and supporting resolution efforts.

  • Follow established lab instructions and procedures to run buoyancy tests and fire-retardant tests on foam products.

  • Work in areas where chemical smells may be present during lab testing, using provided hoods and safety equipment as directed.

  • Interact regularly with production employees and supervisors on the floor to discuss quality concerns and provide guidance.

  • De-escalate and resolve production quality issues in a professional, collaborative manner.

  • Act as a self-starter at the beginning of the shift, taking initiative and managing workload independently before leadership arrives.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, adhering to all plant and lab safety protocols.

  • Participate in orientation and successfully complete a tape measure test, including measurement and tolerance comprehension components.

  • Demonstrate willingness to learn new equipment and processes, and continuously improve quality control and lab skills.

  • Ability to stand and walk for the duration of the shift, moving between departments and interacting with employees and managers as needed.

  • Demonstrated ability to de-escalate production problems and work collaboratively to resolve quality issues.

  • Comfort working in an environment where chemical smells may be present during lab testing of foam products, including buoyancy and fire-retardant tests.

  • Willingness to learn additional equipment and processes and to train in the lab to expand responsibilities.

  • Ability to work independently and take initiative, particularly at the start of the shift before leadership is onsite.

  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy in measurement, and thoroughness in documentation and reporting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience using Monte sticks in quality or lab settings.
