Job summary

Stanley Black & Decker in Marietta, GA is seeking a Quality & Continuous Improvement Engineer to drive quality performance, define systems, and lead ISO-related efforts. The role supports supplier and internal processes, audits, and kaizen initiatives.

You will develop and maintain quality controls, collaborate with Value Stream Engineers, and advance process improvements while ensuring compliance with ISO and safety standards. Hybrid work options available.

Qualifications

  • 4 year college degree required.
  • 3+ years of related Quality experience.
  • 1+ years of related Continuous Improvement experience.
  • PC knowledge/computer literate.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of quality function, lean manufacturing, ISO requirements.
  • Independent worker (must be able to assign and complete assignments independently).
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Good organizational skills, excellent verbal/written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with inspection procedures.
  • Understanding and support of Company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Provides and maintains measures of the Plant's quality performance in terms of quality costs, customer returns and complaints, product conformance, and manufacturing and supplier performance.
  • Defines the system, policy, and procedures for the control of quality in and for the Plant and regularly determines adherence to these by all functions.
  • Conducts audits of the Plant Quality Assurance system, including adequacy of records, effectiveness of procedures and performance of personnel.
  • Develops product quality and reliability, and defines product quality characteristics, control points, inspection for conformance, records and feedback for purchased and manufactured materials, parts and products.
  • Evaluates and controls product and process quality through inspection for conformance to requirements of purchased material and parts, work-in-process, finished goods, packaging and labeling; controls disposition and costs on nonconforming material; identifies corrective action needs; ensures accuracy of gauges, measuring and test equipment.
  • Recommends department organization, expense and capital, long-range plans and budget needs, and operates the department within approved budget.
  • Support ISO 9001 certification program; participate with internal ISO audits to monitor compliance.
  • Assist with recertification during Registrar visits.
  • Develop and maintain work instructions per ISO requirements.
  • Assist with Supplier Performance Reviews; document floor complaints.
  • Issue NCMRs and CARs as needed.
  • Follow up with correctives actions to ensure compliance.
  • Audit key vendors as necessary.
  • Participate in New Product Development; attend PLMT meetings.
  • Research new processes as directed.
  • Collaborate with Value Stream Engineers on Standard Work Development, Improvements and Training.
  • Develop Cpk and process control plans for new products; may require FMEA and PPAP documents.
  • Compliance to all Plant Environmental, Health and Safety policies and OSHA regulatory requirements.
  • Facilitates kaizen events and other lean initiatives such as 5S, one-piece flow, standardized work, Kanban.
  • Performs workplace audits and streaming processes within area of responsibility.
  • Utilizes value stream analysis, project management, data collection and analysis, and development and implementation of process improvements to drive change.
  • Creates work instructions, reports, and presentations using accurate data to drive continuous improvement.
