Job summary

Graphic Packaging is seeking a Quality Assurance Tester to oversee cup-line quality inspections. You will follow established testing procedures, identify defects, and communicate issues to the CRT and Packer, stopping the line when necessary.

You will help keep the work area clean and organized, and assist other team members as needed. This role requires attention to detail, ability to document results, and willingness to train new QATs.

Responsibilities

  • Receive pass down from the prior shift to be advised of operational problems.
  • Test all products per current testing procedures.
  • Cups are placed in a pressurized leak testing unit.
  • Visually inspect cups for cleanliness, print quality, defects and seams.
  • Use a Lasermike to take numerical readings of critical cup dimensions.
  • Communicate out-of-spec results to CRT and Packer and shut down machine if needed.
  • Train new QATs when necessary.
  • Keep work area stocked with tape and labels.
  • Enter quality information from tests into computer database.
  • Create pull tags and completes pulls for defects.
  • Contribute to quality and safety audits across the facility.

Job Details

The Quality Assurance Tester (QAT) is responsible for performing quality inspections on multiple cup lines. The Quality Assurance Tester must follow all established cup testing procedures and guidelines. The Quality Assurance Tester must inspect and identify all possible cup defects and notify all affected employees. In addition, The Quality Assurance Tester must maintain the cleanliness and organization of the entire work area and assist other employees as necessary.

3. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES:
  • a. Receive pass down from the QAT from the prior shift in order to be advised of any operational problems with the machinery.
  • b. Test all products in accordance with current testing procedures.
  • c. Cups are also placed in a pressurized leak testing unit.
  • d. Visually inspect consecutive cups in order to be certain the cups are clean, the print on the cups is clean, there are no defects on the cup and the seams on the bottom of the cup are appropriate.
  • e. Use a Lasermike to take numerical readings of all critical cup dimensions. If cups are found to be out of specification, the tester will immediately communicate this to the CRT and Packer and the machine will be shut down.
  • f. If any cup defects are detected by the QAT, they will be immediately communicated to the CRT and the Packer and the appropriate action will be taken. This may include traveling to off-site warehouse to retrieve defective product.
  • g. Training of new QAT’s is also required on an as needed basis. Training would be required of an employee only when the QAT is proficient in the position.
  • h. QAT’s are responsible also to keep the work area clean and make certain that the work area is well stocked with supplies such as tape and labels.
  • i. Enter quality information form tests and pulls into computer database.
  • j. Create pull tags and complete pulls for failed and/or suspect product.
  • k. Complete quality and safety audit throughout facility.
  • l. Conduct Tilt Testing and SBUX Tool Kit Testing.
  • m. Complete CXC inspection and retesting of production to determine releasability of product.
  • n. Complete cycle counts on inventory to ensure proper counts in QC hold areas.
  • o. Enter issued-unplanned into QAD to ensure proper documentation of finished goods to waste.
Safe Quality Food Responsibilities:

Understand, perform and promote safety rules and procedures. Comply with all safety standards. Remain focused on safety throughout the shift and perform all work in a safe manner without taking shortcuts. Report injuries immediately to your supervisor and any potential safety hazards observed.

Comply with all quality standards. Produce quality product by not accepting defective material into work center, not making defective products at work station, not passing defects to internal customers and by reporting potential quality issues.

Comply with all sanitation standards. Practice good sanitation and housekeeping practicing to maintain the appearance and condition of the operating facility.

Pay: $18.76 - 21.06
