Job summary

Graphic Packaging International in Tennessee is seeking a production operator to support our 7-day continuous operation. You will observe safety rules, operate printers, metalizers, laminators, cutters and gluers, and assist with make-ready and quality checks to meet production goals.

The role emphasizes compliance with GMPs, SQF requirements, and lean Continuous Improvement programs, with a focus on equipment reliability, teamwork, and reporting of process issues to maintain product safety and

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/Equivalent required.
  • At least 6 months of experience with the same or similar equipment preferred.
  • Follow plant safety, sanitation, and GMP requirements.
  • Stop unsafe or nonconforming processes to protect quality.

Responsibilities

  • Observe safety rules and comply with safety practices.
  • Document quality checks required by the work center.
  • Assist in safe and efficient operation of printers, metalizers, laminators, cutters, gluers, and related equipment.
  • Identify and resolve process and machine problems.
  • Participate in make-ready preparation for assigned equipment.
  • Prepare required production reports.
  • Maintain housekeeping and area cleanliness.
  • Support SQF/5S, Lean, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure customer requirements are understood and met.

Job Functions
  • Observes company safety rules and complies with safety practices.
  • Must have successfully completed Department Assistant I Checklist.
  • Capable of documenting quality checks required by work center.
  • Assists in safe and efficient operation of printers, metalizers, laminators, cutters, gluers, and all support equipment.
  • Aids in identifying and resolving process and machine problems.
  • Participates in make-ready preparation for assigned equipment.
  • Prepares necessary reports as required to accomplish production goals.
  • Performs general housekeeping functions in assigned area.
  • Responsible for compliance with all facility food safety, food defense, and quality policies and procedures including product safety (GMPs)/Sanitation policies and procedures. Employee must continually work to promote the orderliness and cleanliness of their work area in support of SQF/5S and other company standards.
  • Must be supportive of GPI’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values (Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships, and Teamwork).
  • Must be supportive and involved in GPI efforts for LEAN, 5’s, Six Sigma and other Continuous Improvement programs and processes.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
  • Strives to clearly understand customer requirements and delivers results to meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Ability and responsibility to stop any process that is not meeting food safety requirements.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma/Equivalent required.

Physical/Mental Requirements

Frequent/strenuous physical effort (lifting, moving heavy objects, etc.) required.

Frequently exposed to conditions involving noise, fumes, and hazardous chemicals.

Graphic Packaging International is on a 7-day continuous operation. Must be able to work overtime as required.

Safe Quality Food Responsibilities For All Employees
  • Follow all Plant rules, Processes, Hygiene, and Allergens procedures, related to production of Safe Quality Foods.
  • Report to person of authority to record any potentially unsafe conditions which may result in unsafe foods or noncompliance to SQF related procedures.
  • Participate in SQF Root Cause and Corrective Actions (from customer complaints, SQF audits, validation, and verification activities) as required.
  • Follow all procedures related to producing Safe Quality Foods (SQF).
  • Report any potentially unsafe SQF conditions or customer complaints to a person of authority to record and/or correct the situation.
