Job summary

Graphic Packaging International is seeking a Cup Operator to maintain heat seal and glue seal machines for the production of paper cups. The role includes cleaning machines to prevent defects, loading side and bottom stock, and making minor adjustments to maintain quality products.

You will monitor machines, perform hourly quality checks, and communicate issues to QAT and packer. Safety, accuracy, and timely problem-solving are essential in this fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Check level of paper in machines and fill usage/pass-down reports.
  • Ensure machines run properly by monitoring fluids and operation.
  • Maintain cleanliness of machines and perform hourly quality checks.
  • Communicate problems with QA and packer; adjust heat/air to solve defects; escalate if needed.
  • Periodically clean machines to prevent malfunctions.
  • Listen to PA communications; acknowledge and shut machine down if defects are reported.
  • Understand and promote safety rules and procedures in the plant.
  • Perform safety guard checks during the first hour of shift.

Job Details

A Cup Operator is responsible for maintaining the operation of the heat seal and glue seal machines for the production of paper cups. The Operator is responsible for cleaning the machines in order to avoid cup defects. The Operator is responsible for cleaning any spills in the production area. Operator is responsible for loading side stock and bottom stock into the machine for the production of paper cups. Operator is responsible for making minor adjustments to the cup machine in order to maintain quality products.

3. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES:

a. Upon arrival to production area, the Operator is responsible for checking the level of paper in the machines. The employee must also complete a usage report and fill out a pass down report.

b. Operator checks machines to ensure they are all running properly by checking fluids and monitoring operation.

c. Operator is responsible for cleanliness of the machines and must complete quality checks every hour on the cups produced.

d. If there is an issue with a machine, the Operator is responsible for communicating the problem with QAT and packer. Operator must then adjust the heat or air, or make any other adjustments as needed to solve many of the possible defects. Visual inspection is important in solving defects and a troubleshoot guide is utilized. If the problem continues, the Operator is required to discontinue operation and communicate the problem to a line maintainer or maintenance.

e. Periodically during the work shift, the Operator is responsible for cleaning the machine in order to avoid malfunctions of the machine.

f. The Operator is responsible for listening to communications through the PA system coming from packer or QAT. If there is an issue, the Operator must be notified Immediately and response time kept to a minimum. The Operator must acknowledge the information regarding the problem with the cups and shut machine down until defect can be fixed.

g. Operator is required to understand, perform, and promote safety, rules and procedures throughout the plant.

h. Perform safety guard check for each machine in first hour of shift.

Safe Quality Food Responsibilities:

Comply with all quality standards. Remain focused on safety throughout the shift and perform all work in a safe manner without taking shortcuts. Report injuries immediately to your supervisor and any potential safety hazards observed.

Perform bubble tests and complete paperwork for traceability and production records.

Continuously fans blanks to monitor for quality or other defects.

Comply with all safety standards. Produce quality product by not accepting defective material into work center, not making defective products at work station, not passing defects to internal customers and by reporting potential quality issues.

Comply with all sanitation standards. Practice good sanitation and housekeeping practicing to maintain the appearance and condition of the operating facility.

Pay: $ 22.54 - $ 28.89
