As one of the nation’s largest single-source providers of lighting and electrical products, electrical services, electrical construction, and energy management solutions, Facility Solutions Group is expanding their staff and seeking a Quality Assurance Technician II to join the Round Rock, TX team.
The Quality Assurance Technician II is a critical role responsible for maintaining high-quality standards across Building Automation Systems (BAS) installations. Quality Assurance Technicians implement effective quality control measures, train field personnel, troubleshoot installation issues, and document outcomes to ensure superior product and service quality. This position ensures compliance with project specifications, identifies and mitigates potential problems, and fosters strong relationships with vendors and field technicians.
Responsibilities
As an FSG Smart Buildings Quality Assurance Technician II, you will:
- Perform onsite and remote inspections, audits, and functional testing of Smart Buildings systems.
- Review, update, and create installation guides, commissioning checklists, and construction drawings.
- Develop and maintain Operations & Maintenance (O&M) manuals and other quality documentation.
- Program Smart Buildings products using tools and standards defined by the engineering team.
- Investigate and resolve quality issues; lead root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
- Analyze data from commissioning and field reports to identify trends and recommend improvements.
- Deliver technical training, field audits, and quality supervision to FSG technicians and contractors.
- Ensure adherence to commissioning protocols, safety standards, and quality assurance procedures.
- Support continuous improvement through CAPs (Corrective Action Plans) and competency assessments.
- Build and maintain relationships with field teams, engineers, and third-party vendors.
- Conduct onsite commissioning and inspections for new or retrofit construction projects.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will satisfy the following requirements and qualifications:
Required:
- A high school diploma or GED is required; an associate’s degree or technical diploma in electrical technology, HVAC, building automation, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in quality assurance, commissioning, field service, or system integration within the building automation (BAS/EMS), electrical, or HVAC industries.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of building automation systems, including control wiring, equipment integration, and system commissioning.
- Proficiency with office and documentation tools, including Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Docs).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and installation manuals.
- Experience conducting onsite inspections, functional testing, or commissioning activities.
- Possession of OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification or the ability to obtain it within 90 days of hire (training provided).
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel up to 75% to customer sites and field locations.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks during inspections or field work.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Science, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience in building automation, MEP construction, commissioning, or quality assurance roles.
- Knowledge of BAS communication protocols, including BACnet, Modbus, and LonWorks.
- Experience developing or revising installation guides, commissioning checklists, and O&M manuals.
- Texas Journeyman Electrician License, Texas ACR (Air Conditioning and Refrigeration) License, or equivalent state-recognized credential.
- Familiarity with HVAC, lighting control systems, and power distribution related to BAS integration.
- Experience using programming or configuration tools for BAS platforms (e.g., Distech, Tridium, Johnson Controls).
- Demonstrated ability to implement and track Corrective Action Plans (CAPs) or similar quality improvement processes.

Pay Range
USD $59,000.00 - USD $61,000.00 /Yr.
