SUMMARY
Performs product inspections using a variety of equipment and techniques. Completes physical testing to verify compliance with company standards for products and processes. Suggests modifications to prevent defects in components or final products.
JOB DUTIES
- Performs daily inspections on finished goods and components at various production and QA work areas, including receiving, in-process, and finished goods inspection.
- Creates procedures, Quality Alerts, and inspection checklists to guide quality at the point of manufacture.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams—product design, management, and production—to identify and mitigate quality risks.
- Audits production processes, raw materials, and suppliers to ensure standards are met.
- Conducts root cause analyses for defects and quality failures.
- Performs dimensional, visual, and procedural checks on finished products, subassemblies, and parts of various sizes, shapes, and materials.
- Verifies finished goods or stock parts to identify bad lots for isolation.
- Notifies supervisors of inspection failures or tolerance issues; performs quality planning, corrective actions, and develops test procedures.
- Assists in training new inspectors on documentation and inspection techniques.
- Creates and communicates nonconformance reports; reviews first piece reports; handles non-conforming materials appropriately.
- Assists in developing test methods for new and existing products to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Supports process engineers during trial runs for new or problematic products.
- Ensures compliance with external standards such as ISO 9001.
- Adheres to company policies, safety guidelines, and performs additional duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate's degree in Quality Assurance or two years of experience as a Quality Technician (degree may be substituted).
- Proficient with measuring tools including calipers, micrometers, and coordinate measuring machines.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to analyze failure causes.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Ability to operate industrial trucks and maintain certification; capable of working at heights.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- One year of QA Technician experience; experience in mechanical inspection/calibration or plastics processing.
- Proficient in GDT and reading blueprints; intermediate skills in Microsoft applications.
- Knowledge of SAP.
