A Brief Overview
The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for adhering, implementing, monitoring, verifying, validating, and writing procedures and processes that fall under the compliance umbrellas of SQF, HACCP, GMP, Food Safety & Quality in all areas of USDA/FDA labeling, manufacturing, warehousing.
What You Will Do
- Must be willing to learn and become knowledgeable in SQF, USDA/FDA regulations, GMPs, Food Safety, HACCP & SOPs.
- Maintain, organize and assist with updating all SQF and HACCP documentation, ensuring compliance with current regulations.
- Read and understand Manufacturing Statements.
- Organize and maintain critical tracking events documents, files, and records.
- Coordinate PFG supplier approval program compliance, ensuring supplier load compliance and Environmental Social Governance documents.
- Have a strong understanding of and ability to follow GMPs.
- Understand allergens and proper labeling to avoid customer impact.
- Understand cross-contamination risks and how to prevent them.
- Operate lab equipment (scale, thermometer).
- Learn and understand SQF regulations and FDA & USDA guidelines.
- Administer environmental swab tests per sanitary SOPs.
- Practice hold and release policies for ingredient or product suitability.
- Maintain records to ensure compliance with standards.
- Complete daily pre-operational and operational inspections.
- Use various techniques to evaluate raw materials and finished products.
- Assist with compliance for quarterly, semi-annual, and annual 3rd party audits.
- Recognize and address product nuances.
- Pay close attention to detail.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience; Associates degree or 1-year technical experience preferred.
- 0-6 months experience.
- Ability to work independently and with other departments.
- Strong communication skills.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Organizational skills to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to adapt and improve food safety systems.
- Mathematical skills for measurements.
- Follow safety rules and standards, including OSHA, GMP, HACCP, SQF.
