Description
SUMMARY
The Quality Assurance Technician will be responsible for performing inspection on quality of purchased materials, in-process products, and finished goods according to company standards and customer specifications. Verifies that QMS procedures are followed and maintains/develops proper documentation with a focus on continuous improvement.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Verify that established quality and production processes are being followed to provide defect free products. Administer corrective actions when processes are not being followed.
- Complete First Article Inspection and documentation as instructed or as needed.
- Review and perform systems updates for product Bills of Material (BOM).
- Analyze all processes, raw material standards, inspection techniques and inspection equipment to identify continuous process improvement opportunities.
- Manage and create required quality records. Records include: Nonconforming Materials, Product Change Orders, Return Merchandise Authorization, Process Deviations, Corrective Actions, Work Instructions and Training Records.
- Conduct receiving, in-process, and final inspection.
- Log and report data related to nonconformances reported or observed.
- Work with production team to identify causes of and solutions to reported defective units.
- Maintain and control calibration records for all production, test and inspection equipment as well as calibration gasses used in production.
- Follow ISO 9001:2015 guidelines and continually improve the existing Quality Management System (QMS). Meet with ISO Auditor and answer questions related to the QMS.
- Perform root cause analysis when product defects are discovered.
- Train staff on QMS processes and/or procedures.
- Communicate quality concerns with vendors. Issue and manage corrective actions as needed.
- Communicate product defect causes and resolutions with customers as needed.
- Manage and enhance QMS.
- Create and maintain company documentation, such as quality manuals and quality procedures.
- Retain all necessary documents according to ISO standard.
- Ability to work daily and overtime as required.
- Ability to assist in other work-related areas as required.
Requirements
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Associates Degree in Quality Engineering preferred.
- 2-5 years of experience in related field.
- 1-3 years of experience with Lean Manufacturing preferred.
- High level of detail and accuracy required for this position.
- Strong oral and written communication skills. Customer service mentality.
- Ability to work independently and complete assignments accurately and in a timely manner.
- Proficient in Excel, Word and Outlook.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to sit at desk for long periods of time
- Moderate lifting up to 50 pounds as frequently as needed to move objects
- Dexterity to write and manipulate computer keyboard and mouse, tools, and controls on office equipment.
- Body mobility to stoop, kneel, bend, twist, grasp, and reach.
- This position occasionally works in an industrial environment and may be exposed to dust, fumes, hazardous chemicals, and loud noises and changes in temperature.
