Apply locations Elk Grove, CA (Mi Rancho) time type Full time posted on Posted 11 Days Ago job requisition id R816601 The QA Team Lead II is responsible for supporting the Sr. QA Manager in developing, implementing, and enforcing Food Safety Programs for Mi Rancho. This position plans and directs activities concerned with the development, application, and maintenance of quality standards. With the direction of the Sr. QA Manager, the QA Team Lead II assists in leading the plant in assessing food quality and safety and other initiatives to improve products and processes related to quality, food safety and consistency. The QA Team Lead II assists the Sr. QA Manager in providing quality and food safety leadership to employees. Participates in/leads projects to improve plant quality and food safety performance. The QA Team Lead II will be responsible for implementing and maintaining SQF compliance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Food Safety & Safety: Always perform tasks according to Safety and Food Safety Standards.
- Participate in safety training programs and contribute to the development of safety initiatives to promote a culture of safety.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (SQF, GMP, HACCP, OSHA) and company policies and trainings related to food safety, sanitation, and environmental regulations (e.g., HACCP, Food Safety, GMP’s, Food Fraud/Defense, Allergens, Organic, Gluten Free)
- Support Sr. QA Manager with all QA activities (fill in when and as required).
- Responsible for enforcing all company rules, policies, and procedures.
- Responsible for overseeing, training, disciplining, and coaching of QA Staff as needed.
- Responsible for conducting formal and informal (continuous feedback) employee performance appraisals.
- Oversee raw materials policies.
- Enforce and administer Food Safety Program including Metal Detection.
- Conduct annual system review of SQF Program, Food Safety Plans, and Prerequisite Programs, including verification and validation activities.
- Enforce and administer Weight Control Program.
- Enforce and administer GMP Program.
- Responsible for verifying company compliance with third party standards (such as SQF, AIB, NSF, QAI, Non-GMO, etc.), to achieve outstanding results.
- Maintain up-to-date and organized QA records.
- Enforce Product Specifications.
- Enforce and administer outside lab samples program.
- Enforce and administer and audit effective Preoperational Inspections to assure proper cleaning and sanitation of equipment.
- Enforce and administer “Hold and Release Program”.
- Enforce and administer Pest Control Program.
- Enforce and administer Recall Program.
- Manage Quality Assurance/Control Processes and Procedures (writing and implementing them as needed).
- Perform Plant Audits.
- Conduct and understand product testing (Physical, Microbiological & Chemical).
- Promote an open and relaxed atmosphere to promote employee creativity and motivation.
- Enforce and administer product-handling requirements.
- Audit and enforce production floor policies and procedures assuring SQF compliance.
- Enforce and administer chemicals labeling policy.
- Maintain and promote a firm safety discipline and enforce company safety policies. Report unsafe acts and conditions and take disciplinary action as needed.
- Train and inform employees on the high costs of materials handling to help them understand the importance of using care at all times.
- Responsible for keeping personnel motivated, productive and well informed.
- Responsible for maintaining excellent professional employee relations.
- Responsible for promoting teamwork at all levels and between the departments.
- Assist Director of QA, Food Safety & Sanitation to develop and update job descriptions.
- Must be familiar with Maintenance Department procedures and submit work orders when needed.
- Assist Production Department when and where required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Education/Certifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in food science or equivalent field of study or 5 + years of work experience in QA.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Food Manufacturing.
- Experience with USDA, FDA, or CA Dept. of Food & Agriculture guidelines/requirements.
- SQF Certified Practitioner and Experience and must
- Experience working with Kosher, Organic and AIB programs.
- Minimum 1 to 2 years’ experience in a leadership role.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must have the ability to manage new and multiple projects from conception to commercialization.
- Adept at working independently and cross-functionally, managing multiple projects and short timelines, and working in a fast-paced environment. Able to communicate and cross-functionally manage project needs.
- Ability to multitask and work under pressure and time constrained situations and adapt to quickly changing priorities across multiple projects.
- Strong organizational, communication and analytical Skills.
- Ability to interact with all management levels.

- Must be able to fulfill essential job function in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.
- Must adhere to a drug and alcohol zero tolerance policy.
- Must be able to enforce, comply with and follow all food safety, and third-party certification policies (SQF, Gluten-Free and Organic, etc.)
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Work requires supervising and monitoring performance for a regular group of employees or a work unit, including providing input on hiring / disciplinary and work objectives / effectiveness, and realigning work as needed.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
- Regularly required to sit in front of a computer/ desk station for a portion of shift.
- Continued walking and standing on hard surfaces, climbing, and descending steps.
- Continual bending, kneeling, squatting, stooping, reaching, pulling, pushing, and lifting up-to 30 lbs.
- Exposed to cool, hot temperatures and noise.
- Temperatures ranging to very warm conditions.
- Loud noises generated from equipment.
- Travel Requirements: less than 5% (example: trainings/vendor sites).

$68,250.00 - $121,155.00
