Oversees maintenance of processes in order to reduce mechanical downtime and keep product flows and production lines running at maximum efficiency.

California Salary Range: $100,000.00- $124,000.00

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Food Safety & Safety: Always perform tasks according to Safety and Food Safety Standards.
    • Participate in safety training programs and contribute to the development of safety initiatives to promote a culture of safety.
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (SQF, GMP, HACCP, OSHA) and company policies and trainings related to food safety, sanitation, and environmental regulations (e.g., HACCP, Food Safety, GMP’s, Food Fraud/Defense, Allergens, Organic, Gluten Free).
  • Leads teams of Maintenance Mechanics & Electricians in predictive & preventative maintenance and machine repair.
  • Responsible for the development, implementation, and day-to-day supervision of maintenance systems, processes and documentation associated with efficient and High Performing Manufacturing Organizations (Prevention and Predictive Maintenance, TPM, SOP’s, Safety, etc.).
  • Ensures maintenance is scheduled in a timely manner and works closely with Production to schedule and accomplish equipment and facility repairs.
  • Develops and/or maintains Key Performance Indicators for tracking and reporting the performance of the maintenance function (supplier performance, 3rd party contractor performance, equipment reliability, overall equipment effectiveness, etc.)
  • Provides long-term solutions and day-to-day support to all operating teams having issues with troubleshooting, problem analysis, equipment failures, etc.
  • Trains employees in proper work methods and safety procedures.
  • Maintains accurate records of maintenance work performed and inventory.
  • Provides regular status reports to the maintenance management team.
  • Reviews all planned job packages for labor requirements, materials, parts, methods, permits, and priorities.
  • Distributes work orders directly to those assigned to perform the task.
  • Evaluates all Emergency work identified to ensure an emergency response is necessary, or, directs the creation of a work order that can be planned and scheduled in the future.
  • Ensures appropriate resources for each planned and scheduled job have the correct skill levels for proper work execution.
  • Controls Job Execution. Directs Trades in the performance of approved maintenance jobs. Controls quality, duration, cost and thoroughness of all work under their direct supervision.
  • Monitors each job closely by frequently visiting jobs in progress to ensure job quality and progress. Interfaces with the Production Department on any changes in duration or any other conditions that impacts the schedule.
  • In the absence of key personnel, the employee’s supervisor or qualified designee (one that has been trained in the key employee's duties) is responsible to complete or delegate the completion of all required tasks and responsibilities.
  • Flexibility to work non-standard hours as needed, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Education/Certifications and Experience:

  • Highschool diploma or GED, required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of maintenance supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience acting as a lead by providing training, coaching/mentoring to less experienced staff or through managing a process or project.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient use of computer, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote), and other related applications or software.
  • Advanced technical skills in ammonia refrigeration, high pressure boiler, compressed air, mechanical, and electrical fields (e.g. PLCs, instrumentation, mechanical engineering, etc.) and is able to lead resource planning efforts in a large manufacturing environment.
  • Advance knowledge in PSM and RMP.
  • Thorough knowledge of maintenance systems, work order processes, preventive/predictive maintenance, TPM, inventory and scheduling software.
  • Strong leadership skills (conflict resolution, facilitation, change management skills, decision making, empowerment and delegation), preferred.
  • Able to lead problem solving and troubleshooting efforts associated with high-level process issues.
  • Good planning and priority setting skills.
  • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • Must be able to comply with and follow all food safety, and third-party certification policies (SQF, Gluten-Free and Organic, etc.).
  • Bilingual is a plus.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Work requires supervising and monitoring performance for a regular group of employees or a work unit, including providing input on hiring/disciplinary actions and work objectives/effectiveness, and realigning work as needed.
  • Provides leadership and guidance to employees in the Maintenance Department.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures.
  • Work requires supervising and monitoring performance for a regular group of employees or a work unit, including providing input on hiring / disciplinary and work objectives / effectiveness, and realigning work as needed.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

  • Work involves daily exposure to unusual elements such as dirt, dust, fumes, darkness and/or noise. Seasonal exposure to weather includes, but is not limited to, extreme temperatures, wetness, and humidity.
  • Work environment involves daily exposure to physical risks such as working around mechanical equipment, forklifts, chemical hazards, and electrical hazards.
  • Position requires the ability to sit frequently at a desk, walking around the office and plant; carrying packages up to 50 pounds; utilizing fine dexterity; reaching and kneeling on a daily basis.

$68,250.00 - $121,155.00
