Job Summary:
As a QA Specialist, you will work with our Quality Assurance team in the Technology Services and Solutions business unit to test and verify new and existing software products. The team you will primarily work with focuses on connected vehicle and digital infrastructure-related technology. As a QA specialist, you will be responsible for developing, managing, and executing software test plans and test cases. Test coverage will include web applications, Android and iOS mobile applications, and APIs. This is a full-time, benefited position that will involve hands-on software testing and exposure to numerous use cases.

The preferred candidate will be based in our office in either Laramie or Sheridan Wyoming, or Fort Collins, Colorado, although other locations would be considered.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, manage, and execute test plans and test cases to evaluate software functionality, usability, reliability, and compatibility.
  • Perform hands-on manual and exploratory testing of web, mobile, and API-based applications.
  • Identify edge cases, unexpected behavior, usability concerns, and potential product risks.
  • Determine when manual testing or automated testing is the most appropriate approach.
  • Clearly document, track, and verify defects using bug tracking tools (such as those in Azure DevOps).
  • Support regression, integration, and smoke testing efforts for regular releases.
  • Contribute to test automation based on experience and project needs; candidates interested in developing automation skills will have opportunities to learn and grow. Evaluate and understand test results and metrics, then effectively communicate them to management and the development team.
  • Collaborate with developers, product stakeholders, and other QA team members to improve product quality.
  • Mentor junior team members/interns.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, Physics, related field is preferred or equivalent technical training with certification or bootcamp completion.
  • Two or more years of experience in software quality assurance, software testing, or a related role.
  • Experience developing and executing test cases and documenting test results.
  • Strong manual and exploratory testing skills.
  • Ability to recognize defects, inconsistencies, edge cases, and usability concerns.
  • Experience logging clear, reproducible defects in a bug-tracking or work-management system.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with careful attention to detail, accuracy, and completeness.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate professionally with technical and nontechnical team members.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience testing RESTful APIs using tools such as Postman, Swagger, or Bruno.
  • Experience with—or an interest in learning—test automation tools and frameworks such as Selenium, Playwright, TestNG, or pytest.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD workflows and automated test pipelines.
  • Experience testing web applications or Android and iOS mobile applications.
  • Experience working in Agile software-development environments.

Quality Assurance Specialists will be evaluated on the following key performance areas during their first year:

  • Communicates respectfully and professionally with management and team members. Represents the organization professionally in internal and external settings as appropriate. Consistently deliver clear testing feedback, ensuring test results and quality concerns are documented and communicated in a timely manner.

2. Technical Learning and Task Execution:

  • Demonstrates and continuously expands knowledge of software products, business processes, testing methodologies, and QA tools. Applies technical expertise to identify risks, improve test coverage, and support delivery of high-quality products.
  • Reliably attend and collaborate during team meetings. Engaged, willing to learn and work collaboratively with team members while performing testing duties independently. Communicates progress, questions, and issues to supervisors or project leads.

The salary information shown below is a general guideline ONLY. Salaries are based on candidates' experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary pay range: $55k- $80k
