Akkodis is seeking a QA Manager role is a Full-time with a clientin Westlake, OH (Onsite), We’re looking for a highly motivated, hands‑on Quality Assurance Manager or a Team Lead with 5+ years of progressive experience in software quality assurance, software testing, and quality engineering. The ideal candidate should have expertise in manual testing, SDLC, Agile/Scrum, defect management, SQL, and experience leading QA teams while driving test automation and quality improvements.

Salary Range: $120k-125k/annum + Benefits; The salary may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Duties and responsibilities

Quality Assurance Leadership & Delivery

• Provide leadership and oversight for quality assurance activities across the organization’s products and initiatives.
• Ensure effective planning and execution of functional, integration, regression, system, data validation, user acceptance, performance, and release testing activities.
• Establish testing approaches and quality standards that support multiple products and business functions while maintaining consistency across teams.
• Serve as the primary escalation point for testing risks, quality concerns, release readiness decisions, and defect management activities.
• Maintain a strong understanding product, systems, integrations, data flows, release processes, and operational workflows to effectively lead testing efforts and quality initiatives.
• Develop team structures, responsibilities, and processes that support effective day‑to‑day testing coordination and execution across multiple products and initiatives.

Team Leadership & Organizational Development

• Lead, coach, mentor, and develop Quality Assurance professionals supporting multiple products and business functions.
• Foster a culture of accountability, ownership, continuous learning, collaboration, innovation, and quality excellence.
• Establish performance expectations, development plans, coaching strategies, and career growth opportunities for QA team members.
• Develop team capabilities that balance product‑specific expertise with broader testing proficiency and organizational flexibility.
• Promote cross‑training and knowledge sharing to reduce key‑person dependencies and improve resource flexibility across products and initiatives.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, retention, succession planning, and workforce development activities.

Quality Engineering & Test Automation

• Establish and promote testing approaches that improve quality, increase consistency, reduce testing effort, and support scalable delivery.
• Develop and execute a roadmap to expand test automation and improve overall testing efficiency.
• Identify opportunities to reduce repetitive manual testing activities through automated testing solutions, reusable test assets, and enhanced testing frameworks.
• Partner with business and technology teams to implement testing automation and quality engineering improvements.
• Evaluate and recommend testing tools, frameworks, methodologies, and technologies, and drive adoption of appropriate automated regression, integration, smoke, data validation, and release‑readiness testing.
• Continuously improve testing practices to increase effectiveness and efficiency, strengthen release quality, and expand test automation capabilities.

Quality Standards, Metrics & Governance

• Establish and maintain QA methodologies, standards, documentation, tools, templates, and best practices.
• Define, monitor, and report on key quality metrics, including defect trends, testing effectiveness, automation adoption, release readiness, quality improvements, and resource utilization.
• Utilize data and metrics to identify opportunities for improvement and support informed decision‑making.
• Participate in root cause analysis efforts related to recurring defects, production issues, and quality concerns, identifying opportunities to strengthen testing practices and reduce future risk.
• Partner with business and technology leaders to drive corrective and preventative actions that improve long‑term quality outcomes.
• Ensure testing activities support applicable organizational, regulatory, client, and compliance requirements.
• Promote quality ownership throughout the software delivery lifecycle.
• Build strong working relationships and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to align on quality objectives, priorities, risks, and delivery expectations.
• Partner with QA leadership from offshore development vendors to align testing practices, quality standards, release readiness expectations, testing priorities, and defect management processes.
• Advocate for high‑quality testing practices throughout the software delivery lifecycle.
• Support planning efforts that appropriately balance business priorities, delivery timelines, testing requirements, and organizational risk.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive experience in software quality assurance, software testing, quality engineering, software delivery, DevOps, or related technology roles.
• Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams, projects, initiatives, technical programs, or cross‑functional technology efforts.
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC), software testing methodologies, quality assurance practices, and defect management processes.
• Hands‑on experience with SQL and familiarity with reporting tools like Crystal Reports or similar platforms.
• Experience supporting Agile, Scrum, and hybrid delivery methodologies.
• Experience leading quality assurance efforts for complex software applications, integrations, operational processes, or business‑critical systems.
• Strong understanding of software releases, deployment processes, application lifecycle management, and technology delivery practices.
• Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for testing automation, process improvement, and increased testing efficiency.
• Proven ability to build relationships and work effectively across technical and business teams.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, organizational, communication, and decision‑making skills.
• Ability to influence stakeholders and drive change across organizational boundaries.
• High degree of accountability, ownership, initiative, and commitment to delivering quality outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in healthcare, claims or payment processing, financial technology, or another regulated industry.
• Experience leading test automation initiatives and working with CI/CD, APIs, integrations, data validation, and modern testing frameworks.
• Experience with Azure DevOps, TestRail, Postman, Selenium, SQL, PowerShell, or similar technologies.
• Experience leading distributed teams and vendor relationships.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
