Quality Assurance, Safety, and Operational Compliance Leader – Aircraft Modification

About the Role
This role serves as the senior authority for quality, safety, and operational compliance within an aircraft integration and modification operation. You will ensure aircraft modification, integration, and maintenance activities are performed safely and in compliance with applicable requirements.
You will own and mature the Quality Management System (QMS) and implement, maintain, and continuously improve the Safety Management System (SMS) within a Part 145 and applicable Part 21 environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and improve the QMS in compliance with FAA Part 145, applicable Part 21 requirements, customer contracts, and internal standards
- Implement and manage the SMS in alignment with ICAO Annex 19 principles
- Oversee quality, safety, and compliance across aircraft maintenance, modification, integration, and ground operations
- Lead internal audits, surveillance, and compliance monitoring
- Manage CAPA, root cause analysis, and corrective action verification
- Maintain configuration control, documentation integrity, and compliance with approved processes
- Manage safety reporting, occurrence investigations, and safety risk assessments
- Report quality, safety, compliance, and emerging risks to leadership
- Support Quality Review Boards, Safety Review Boards, and management reviews
- Lead quality and safety personnel
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Aviation, Engineering, Quality, Safety, or related discipline
- 8+ years of aviation quality, safety, and/or compliance experience
- Significant experience in a Part 145 maintenance and/or Part 21 modification or production environment
- Strong knowledge of FAA Part 145 and applicable Part 21 requirements
- Experience implementing and managing QMS, SMS, IMS, or equivalent management systems
- Experience with audits, CAPA, root cause analysis, and corrective action verification
- Experience with ISO 9001, AS/EN 9100, or similar aerospace quality frameworks
- Aircraft modification, integration, or missionized aviation experience
- Experience with integrated management systems and compliance governance
- Experience serving as an accountable, nominated, or representative holder for quality, safety, or compliance functions
Additional Qualifications
- Aircraft modification, MRO, or missionized aviation experience
- Background as a certificated mechanic, engineer, pilot, or aviation safety professional is highly desirable
- Must be legally eligible to work in the United States and able to obtain and maintain required background checks or customer-mandated security clearances
- Primarily onsite in a hangar and flight-line environment in Tampa with occasional travel
