Job summary

Genie Matthews and Associates is seeking a Quality Assurance Supervisor for a confidential beverage manufacturer in the Silver Spring area. The role leads QA staff in the laboratory and on the production floor to ensure products meet quality, food safety, and regulatory standards.

You’ll coach the team, review lab results, support audits, and partner with plant departments to improve processes and maintain consistent product quality.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical education with biology/chemistry/food science/health sciences background.
• 1–3 years of relevant work experience in manufacturing or quality assurance.
• Manufacturing experience and knowledge of food/beverage industry practices.
• Familiarity with laboratory equipment and testing in a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of sanitation, beverage processes, and microbiological or aseptic techniques.
• Familiarity with HPLC and GC.
• Strong analytical, math, and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication, organization, and team development skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced production environment.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, walk the manufacturing floor, climb stairs, and lift up to 25 pounds.
• Availability to work first shift with flexibility for additional coverage.

Responsibilities

• Lead QA personnel, organize daily activities and set expectations for quality, safety, and performance.
• Develop team members through training, coaching, and performance feedback.
• Partner with Production and other departments to resolve quality concerns and support food safety practices.
• Oversee QA programs, including documentation, training, and internal audits.
• Maintain compliance with product specifications, regulatory requirements, customer expectations, and certifications.
• Review laboratory data for accuracy, investigate exceptions, and identify trends needing corrective action.
• Recommend process improvements based on testing results and quality performance.
• Prepare for and assist with regulatory, certification, customer, and internal audits.
• Lead continuous improvement efforts to strengthen quality and customer satisfaction.
