Job summary

Axalta in High Point, NC seeks a Quality Assurance Engineer to drive quality improvements across manufacturing, partnering with Production, R&D, and Supply Chain to reduce defects and ensure regulatory compliance.

You will lead root-cause analyses, CAPA programs, and 8D investigations while applying Lean Six Sigma methods to raise Right First Time rates and improve batch quality. This role offers hands-on quality leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field.
• 2+ years of quality assurance experience in manufacturing; coatings, chemicals or process industries preferred.
• Working knowledge of ISO 9001; IATF 16949 a plus.
• Proficiency in 8D, CAPA, FMEA and 5-Why problem solving.
• Strong skills in SPC and statistical analysis.
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt preferred.
• Strong communication, project management and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead Right First Time (RFT) improvements to increase batches meeting specification.
• Drive hits-per-batch reduction by analysing data and root causes.
• Lead internal defect reduction with CAPA and corrective actions.
• Prioritize and manage a portfolio of quality projects.
• Manage customer complaints, audits and CAPA requests using 8D methodologies.
• Maintain Quality Management System in line with ISO 9001 requirements.
• Maintain quality documentation including Certificates of Analysis and control plans.
• Apply SPC and Cp/Cpk to monitor processes.
• Lead root cause analysis using 5-Why, Ishikawa and FMEA.
• Collaborate with Production, R&D and Supply Chain to resolve issues and implement improvements.
• Train operators on quality standards and support audit readiness.
