Job summary

Axalta in High Point, NC is seeking a Quality Manager to lead the site Quality Control function, maintain the QMS, and drive continuous improvement. You will back up the Production Manager and coordinate daily QC lab operations to ensure products meet all standards.

This role requires a manufacturing background with 6+ years in production, 2+ years in quality leadership, ISO 9001 knowledge, and hands-on SPC/SAP QM experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related science/engineering discipline.
• 6+ years in manufacturing with at least 3 years in a production supervisory/management role.
• 2+ years managing quality or QC teams in coatings, paints, chemicals, or related batch manufacturing.
• Active Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
• Working knowledge of ISO 9001 systems, audits, CAPA, and SPC.
• Hands-on experience with SAP QM or comparable ERP/LIMS.

Responsibilities

• Direct daily QC lab operations and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS).
• Lead CAPA, NCRs, and deviations with timely closure.
• Oversee lab equipment calibration, maintenance, and reliability.
• Audit support and KPI reporting (RFT, HPB, defects, cost of quality).
• Lead quality projects (DMAIC/Lean) to maximize RFT and reduce rework.
• Provide production coverage as backup to Production Manager and ensure production schedules balance quality risk.
