Job summary

Stars Behavioral Health Group (SBHG) is seeking a Quality Assurance Coordinator for the Yucca Valley, CA site to support the Morongo Basin Crisis Walk In Center. The role focuses on QA program oversight, auditing documentation for billing accuracy, and ensuring adherence to Medi-Cal, county, and internal standards.

You will manage charts with deficiencies, coordinate corrections with staff, and ensure proper discharge closure while contributing to CQI data collection and staff training

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or nursing license or equivalent QA experience.
• 1 year residential care experience or equivalent inpatient psychiatric experience required.
• 1 year of quality assurance experience required.

Responsibilities

• Audit documentation to reconcile with billing and oversee staff documentation for compliance.
• Manage charts with deficiencies and route corrections to appropriate departments.
• Ensure discharged charts are closed in the correct order and CQI data is tracked.

Working Location: Yucca Valley, CA

Working Hours/Shift: Monday - Friday 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM

What You Bring to SBHG (Qualifications):

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in child counseling, development or psychology, or related social science field, or nursing license (LVN, LPT, RN), or Six (6) or more years of QA experience in a Mental Health Agency or County Behavioral Health Program will be substituted as equivalent to a bachelor’s degree.
• Experience & Skills: One (1) year residential care experience or equivalent inpatient psychiatric experience required. One (1) year of quality assurance experience required.
• Compliance & Safety: Valid California Driver’s License with an eligible driving record per company policy. Current CPR certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment. First Aid certification

How you will make a difference:

The Quality Assurance Coordinator is responsible for the Quality Assurance Program. The position is responsible for auditing documentation to reconcile with billing and oversees documentation of services by staff to assure conformity with Medi-Cal, County, other outside agencies, and internal standards and policies. QA Coordinator manages all charts with deficiencies by processing them to the appropriate department for correction. QA Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the discharged chart is closed in the correct order and completed. Position oversees the Continuous Quality Assurance program, medical records and records all CQI data.

Division/Program Overview:

• Program: The Valley Star Crisis Walk-In Center (CWIC) is voluntary and offered on a 24/7 basis in an unlocked setting with a stay of up to 23 hours
• Population Served: All age groups – children, adolescents, adults, and older adults – who need immediate access to crisis mental health services.
• Facility & Setting: The Valley Star Crisis Walk-In Center (CWIC) is voluntary and offered on a 24/7 basis in an unlocked setting
• Clinical Services: Rapid mental health assessment and crisis intervention, the center provides important services to those in need of immediate crisis intervention and stabilization
• Length of Stay: stay of up to 23 hours
• Skills & Transition: Individuals admitted into the crisis stabilization unit will be provided with support and services to ensure their safe transition to the next level of care or back to the community.
