Stars Behavioral Health Group in Irvine, CA is seeking a part-time Overnight Quality Assurance Clerk to support intake processing, record keeping, and data integrity at the Coastal Star Crisis Stabilization Unit.

This role requires a high school diploma, at least one year of unit clerk or clerical experience in healthcare settings, and the ability to verify Medi-Cal eligibility, enter data into EMR and IBHIS, and maintain chart order in accordance with policy and DMH requirements.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• At least 1 year unit clerk or clerical experience in an inpatient or outpatient setting.
• Quality assurance experience in social services or related QA/TQM concepts preferred.
• Billing experience.
• Valid California Driver’s License with an eligible driving record per company policy.
• Current CPR certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
• First Aid certification.

Responsibilities

• Gather, process and track new client information for intake, treatment and discharge.
• Verify Medi-Cal eligibility and open new client records in EMR and IBHIS as assigned.
• Ensure that all aspects of the record are in keeping with agency policy and DMH requirements.
• Regular reporting of progress and thorough oversight for accuracy.
• Manage facility billing aspects as needed, including vendor billing and petty cash.
• Assist in quality control, quality assurance, and quality improvement efforts.
• Maintain chart order and data entry into county data collection sites.

What You Bring to SBHG (Qualifications):

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Experience & Skills: One (1) year unit clerk or clerical experience in an inpatient or outpatient setting.
• Quality assurance experience within the social services field, or related experiences in dealing with QA/TQM concepts and procedures preferred.

This position performs a wide variety of business and operations tasks including gathering, processing and tracking new client information for intake, treatment and discharge. This position will facilitate the verification of Medi-Cal eligibility as required and open new client records in EMR and IBHIS as assigned. This position will also ensure that all aspects of the record are in keeping with agency policy and DMH requirements. Activities performed can be time sensitive with expectations of frequent reporting of progress along with thorough oversight for accuracy. Regular interaction with all staff members, physicians, and outside agencies is expected. Manages/oversees facility billing aspects as needed, including but not limited to vendor billing and facility petty cash. This position has responsibility for gathering and analyzing agency data and assisting in the agency’s quality control, quality assurance, and quality improvement efforts. In addition, the Unit & Quality Assurance Clerk’s duties will include but are not limited to ensuring that the chart order is maintained, entering data into the County data collection sites and other quality improvement tasks as assigned.

Division/Program Overview:

• Program: The Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) is a place where people experiencing a mental health crisis can go to be stabilized. These facilities operate 24/7 to provide crisis stabilization.
• Population Served: Up to 16 adults (ages 18 and up) and 8 adolescents (ages 13 to 17).
• Facility & Setting: Can be compared to an Urgent Care Center where people often go for a medical emergency instead of going to the hospital ER. Patients may stay up to 23 hours.
• Clinical Services: Provides important services to those in need of immediate crisis intervention and stabilization. Designed to prevent psychiatric hospitalizations.
• Length of Stay: stay of up to 23 hours
• Skills & Transition: The CSU will help clients to stabilize and will also provide referrals to other needed services. Transportation is provided as needed.
