Albany Senior Living in Albany, IN is seeking qualified Medication Aides (QMAs) to provide safe, compassionate medication administration and daily care to residents in a 102-bed skilled nursing community.

As part of a dedicated team, you’ll monitor residents, document medications, and collaborate with nursing staff to promote dignity and independence for residents, including those in the Alzheimer’s unit.

Responsibilities

Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) Essential Functions

• The QMA is responsible for providing the medication administration, daily care, health needs, safety and comfort of the residents.
• QMA’s administer and document oral medications, eye medications, topical medications, suppository medications, ear drops and all others as ordered by the physician
• Perform treatments on minor skin conditions per physician orders
• Maintain locked medication cart and medication keys according to facility policy
• Check catheters frequently and providing catheter care as assigned by the nurse
• QMA’s will document all medications and treatments given in the medication record and in the nurses notes according to policy
• Maintaining the confidentiality of all residents and their care to ensure residents rights and privacy are protected at all times
• Performing other duties as assigned by staff nurse or designee

Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) Qualifications

• Must be certified by the State Department of Health as a CNA in good standing
• Must have completed a state approved training program in medication administration and have current QMA certification by the State Department of Health
• Have a thorough understanding of the principles of safe effective nursing practices within the State of employment.
