Job summary

Albany Health and Rehabilitation in New Albany, Indiana, is seeking a Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) to provide safe medication administration and daily resident care in our 102-bed skilled nursing home and a 20-bed Alzheimer unit.

The role offers a competitive starting wage with experience-based increases, plus tuition reimbursement up to $5,000 per year, paid life insurance, profit-sharing, $2 shift differential and $2 weekend differential, DailyPay, monthly celebrations, and quarterly

Qualifications

• Must be certified by the State Department of Health as a CNA in good standing.
• Must have completed a state-approved training program in medication administration and have current QMA certification.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Thorough understanding of safe nursing practices per state requirements.

Responsibilities

• The QMA is responsible for providing the medication administration, daily care, health needs, safety and comfort of the residents.
• QMA’s administer and document oral medications, eye medications, topical medications, suppository medications, ear drops and all others as ordered by the physician
• Perform treatments on minor skin conditions per physician orders
• Maintain locked medication cart and medication keys according to facility policy
• Check catheters frequently and providing catheter care as assigned by the nurse
• QMA’s will document all medications and treatments given in the medication record and in the nurses notes according to policy
• Maintaining the confidentiality of all residents and their care to ensure residents rights and privacy are protected at all times
• Performing other duties as assigned by staff nurse or designee
