Job summary

Cedarhurst Senior Living is seeking a Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) to join our care team in Indiana. This part-time role delivers medications, assists residents with daily living activities, and follows individualized care plans to promote safety and independence.

The QMA works under the Director of Nursing, communicates with physicians and families, records MAR and vital signs, and participates in training to maintain high-quality, person-centered care. Weekend availability is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Current and active state-approved medication aide/technician certification required.
• Insulin certification preferred.
• CPR or BLS certification preferred
• Basic understanding of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Provide direct resident care services including medicine distribution per individualized plan.
• Observe residents and communicate condition changes to physicians, health care proxies, and supervisors.
• Document all pertinent observations, incidents, interventions, and daily medication administration.
• Pass required information to the next shift and ensure MAR documentation is complete.
• Check and record vital signs, weights, and blood sugars as assigned.
• Administer medications according to the five rights (right medication, route, resident, time, dose).
• Provide glucose monitoring and insulin administration (insulin-certified technicians only).
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, oral care, toileting, dressing).
• Assist with transfers and ambulation, and respond to urgent calls as needed.
• Encourage participation in scheduled activities and assist with transportation as needed.
• Maintain a restraint-free environment and support fall prevention programs.
