Job summary

The Waters of New Castle in New Castle, IN is hiring a Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) to administer medications with safety and sound judgment under supervision of a licensed nurse. This role requires adherence to federal and state regulations and company policies.

Qualifications

• Must have current, unencumbered state QMA license.
• Ability to communicate with residents, families, staff and community.
• Demonstrates patience, tact and a cheerful disposition when assisting residents.
• Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Administer oral and scheduled medications as directed by nurses.
• Administer PRN meds after nurse authorization and assessment of effectiveness.
• Administer inhalers and nebulizer treatments with nurse oversight.
• Apply topical/rectal ointments and nasal/eye/ear drops as prescribed.
• Monitor residents for drug reactions and document responses.
• Record medications administered on MAR and report findings to the nurse.
• Report instructions before PRN medication administration.
• Audit documentation for accuracy and timeliness.
• Safely lift/move/transfer residents as required.
• Attend mandatory meetings and in-services.
• Participate in med pass audits as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Director of Nursing or nurse on duty.
