Job summary

Aperion Care in Galveston, TX is seeking a Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) to provide compassionate resident care under nursing and medical direction. The role centers on safe medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and accurate documentation in accordance with physician orders.

You will perform select treatments not requiring a licensed nurse, observe and report medication effects, and collaborate with residents, families, and staff to maintain high standards of care daily.

Qualifications

• QMA certificate in good standing on file with the Department of Health.
• One year experience in long-term care is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtains and records vital signs and weight.
• Administers and documents medications per physician orders (oral, topical, suppository, eye/ear drops).
• Participates in in-service programs; adheres to HIPAA and safety procedures.
• Performs treatments not requiring a licensed nurse (hot/cold app., vitals, weights).
• Observes, records, and reports medication effects or adverse events.
• Takes vitals as needed before administering certain medications.
• Provides direct resident care and functions as a CNA when not administering meds.
• Maintains courteous, professional relationships with residents, visitors, and staff.
• Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
