Job summary

Aperion Care is seeking a Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) to provide essential resident care under the direction of nursing and medical staff. This scheduling role ensures appropriate nursing staff coverage and supports central supply ordering for the facility.

The QMA administers medications per physician orders, records vital signs, and maintains compliance with policies and regulations, including HIPAA. A valid QMA certificate and prior long-term care experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• QMA Certificate in good standing on file with the appropriate Department of Health.
• One year experience in long-term care setting desired.

Responsibilities

• Obtains and records patient's vital signs and weight.
• Administers and documents medications given by following physician orders, including oral, topical, and suppository medications, as well as eye and ear drops.
• Compliance - participates in all in-service programs to expand and develop abilities; adheres to policies and Federal/State regulations including HIPAA; understands Fire Safety procedures.
• Performs treatments not requiring a licensed nurse (hot/cold applications, vital signs, weights); follows procedure manual and standard precautions.
• Observes, records, and reports observations such as adverse medication effects.
• Takes vital signs prior to administration of certain medications.
• Provides direct resident care and functions as a CNA when not assigned medications.
• Develops professional relationships with residents, visitors, and staff.
• Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
