Job summary

McCormick's Creek Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center is seeking a Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) to provide resident care under nursing supervision. The role includes medication administration, vital signs, and documenting treatments.

A QMA and CNA certificate in good standing and at least one year in long-term care are required; the ideal candidate is committed to HIPAA and patient safety.

Qualifications

• QMA Certificate in good standing on file with the appropriate Department of Health and current CNA Certificate.
• One year experience in long-term care setting desired.

Responsibilities

• Obtains and records patient's vital signs and weight.
• Administers and documents medications given by following physician orders, including oral, topical, and suppository medications, as well as eye and ear drops.
• Maintains compliance with personnel policies, community policies and procedures, and Federal and State regulations including HIPAA privacy and confidentiality laws, and participates in drills and emergencies.
• Performs various treatments not requiring licensed nurse (hot/cold applications, vital signs, weights, etc.).
• Observes, records, and reports observations such as unexpected and untoward effects from medications.
• Takes vital signs prior to administration of certain medications.
• Provides direct resident care and functions as a CNA when not administering medications.
• Develops and maintains courteous and professional relationships with residents, visitors, and co-workers.
• Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
