Job summary

Creekside Health and Rehabilitation in Indianapolis, IN, seeks a Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) to administer medications and provide daily care to residents in our skilled nursing facility.

The role requires Indiana CNA certification and QMA training; you will document treatments, monitor safety, and support residents with comfort and dignity on evening or night shifts.

Qualifications

  • Must be certified by the Indiana State Department of Health as a CNA in good standing.
  • Must have completed a state approved training program in medication administration and have current QMA certification by the Indiana State Department of Health.
  • Have a thorough understanding of the principles of safe effective nursing practices within the State of Indiana.
  • A high school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

  • Provide medication administration, daily care, health needs, safety and comfort of residents.
  • Administer and document oral, eye, topical, suppository, ear medications and others as ordered by physician.
  • Perform treatments on minor skin conditions per physician orders.
  • Maintain locked medication cart and keys according to facility policy.
  • Check catheters frequently and provide catheter care as assigned by the nurse.
  • Document all medications and treatments in medication records and nurses notes as per policy.
  • Maintain confidentiality of residents and protect privacy at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by staff nurse or designee.

Responsibilities

Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) Essential Functions

  • The QMA is responsible for providing the medication administration, daily care, health needs, safety and comfort of the residents.
  • QMA’s administer and document oral medications, eye medications, topical medications, suppository medications, ear drops and all others as ordered by the physician
  • Perform treatments on minor skin conditions per physician orders
  • Maintain locked medication cart and medication keys according to facility policy
  • Check catheters frequently and providing catheter care as assigned by the nurse
  • QMA’s will document all medications and treatments given in the medication record and in the nurses notes according to policy
  • Maintaining the confidentiality of all residents and their care to ensure residents rights and privacy are protected at all times
  • Performing other duties as assigned by staff nurse or designee
