Job summary

Homeview Health and Rehabilitation is seeking aQualified Medication Aide (QMA) to join our compassionate caregiving team. The role focuses on medication administration, daily resident care, and safety, with adherence to state requirements for CNA/QMA credentials.

Qualifications

• Certified as a CNA in good standing as required by state health department.
• Completed state-approved training for medication administration and holds current QMA certification.
• High school diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Administer and document oral, eye, topical, and other medications as ordered.
• Provide daily resident care and monitor health needs and safety.
• Maintain locked medication cart and follow facility policies for medications and treatments.
• Document all medications and treatments in the nursing notes and medication records.
• Protect resident privacy and confidentiality at all times.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by nursing staff.

Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) Primary Responsibilities

The QMA is responsible for providing the medication administration, daily care, health needs, safety and comfort of the residents.

Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) Essential Functions

• The QMA is responsible for providing the medication administration, daily care, health needs, safety and comfort of the residents.
• QMA’s administer and document oral medications, eye medications, topical medications, suppository medications, ear drops and all others as ordered by the physician
• Perform treatments on minor skin conditions per physician orders
• Maintain locked medication cart and medication keys according to facility policy
• Check catheters frequently and providing catheter care as assigned by the nurse
• QMA’s will document all medications and treatments given in the medication record and in the nurses notes according to policy
• Maintaining the confidentiality of all residents and their care to ensure residents rights and privacy are protected at all times
• Performing other duties as assigned by staff nurse or designee

Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) Qualifications

• Must be certified by the State Department of Health as a CNA in good standing
• Must have completed a state approved training program in medication administration and have current QMA certification by the State Department of Health
• Have a thorough understanding of the principles of safe effective nursing practices within the State of employment.
• A high school diploma or GED
