Job summary

Creekside Health and Rehabilitation is seeking a Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) to join our skilled nursing team with evening and night shifts. You will oversee medication administration and assist with daily resident care under nursing supervision.

Qualifications

• Must be certified by the Indiana State Department of Health as a CNA in good standing.
• Must have completed a state-approved training program in medication administration and hold current QMA certification.
• High school diploma or GED is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide medication administration, daily care, health needs, safety and comfort of residents.
• Administer and document oral, eye, topical, suppository, ear medications as ordered by physician.
• Perform treatments on minor skin conditions per physician orders.
• Maintain a locked medication cart and keys according to facility policy.
• Check catheters frequently and provide catheter care as assigned by the nurse.
• Document all medications and treatments in the medication record and nurses' notes.
• Maintain confidentiality of residents’ care and privacy at all times.
• Perform other duties as assigned by staff nurse or designee.

The QMA is responsible for providing the medication administration, daily care, health needs, safety and comfort of the residents.

Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) Essential Functions

• The QMA is responsible for providing the medication administration, daily care, health needs, safety and comfort of the residents.
• QMA’s administer and document oral medications, eye medications, topical medications, suppository medications, ear drops and all others as ordered by the physician
• Perform treatments on minor skin conditions per physician orders
• Maintain locked medication cart and medication keys according to facility policy
• Check catheters frequently and providing catheter care as assigned by the nurse
• QMA’s will document all medications and treatments given in the medication record and in the nurses notes according to policy
• Maintaining the confidentiality of all residents and their care to ensure residents rights and privacy are protected at all times
• Performing other duties as assigned by staff nurse or designee

Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) Qualifications

• Must be certified by the Indiana State Department of Health as a CNA in good standing
• Must have completed a state approved training program in medication administration and have current QMA certification by the Indiana State Department of Health
• Have a thorough understanding of the principles of safe effective nursing practices within the State of Indiana
• A high school diploma or GED
